At the moment, Aldi have "Specially Selected perfectly crisp best of British apples".
Not exactly the snappiest of names, but they're 75p for four, and taste delicious when fresh.
They're not quite as nice as Pink Lady apples and their taste and texture deteriorate much quicker, but given that six pink lady apples have now shot up to £2.59, the British ones are now the best value for money from Aldi, in my opinion. Given how much oil prices have fallen recently, how come the cost of imported South African pink lady apples has shot up so much?
My only wonder is how an orchard in Kent can be producing these seemingly fresh, large red-and-green crisp apples in the middle of winter for 19p each, without artificial lighting or them being frozen stock from last summer?
They've also brought their frozen pizzas down to just 79p, and their frankfurters to 89p. Even their real ales, which were reduced last year from £1.79 to £1.49 and then down to £1.25, have now been reduced even further to either £1.17 or £1.24.

Maybe just a special Xmas treat.
