Aldi were selling 300ML for £2.99

Bad – the redesigned Aldi website. It's rubbish and the old one was far better.

Bad - Aldi's current stock of Gala apples. They are vastly under-ripened and won't improve with keeping. By way of contrast, I bought some larger and more expensive ones from Lidl recently (English Gala - 4 in a pack) which were absolutely superb.

I recommend the boxes of ham trimmings from ALDI for £1.65.

Loads of meat and they have cooked ham, breaded ham and smoked ham. The smoked ham is lovely.

Becoming quite a fan of Aldi now. I have switched from buying virtually all my stuff at Tesco, to getting certain items at Aldi. Their Laundry detergent (Almat) is brilliant, their Veggie and Olive Oils are virtually half the price of Tesco and usually, bigger bottles. I get quite a lot of my wine there now as it's really good, and a bottle of bubbles for well under a tenner (currently £8.67) is a really nice drop for the money.

The only thing I was disappointed with was their 'Norpak' spreadable butter which i thought was going to be a more economical verion of Lurpak spreadable. Sadly this was not e case and tasted nothing like Lurpak, but it's the only thing i've not resorted to buying there istead of Tesco.

The Aldi coconut oil I mentioned earlier is now a regular stock item not just on special. yay!! I am so pleased. It's £2.99 for a big 300 ml jar.

Lidl's products are better than Aldi's if you want to cut costs.

I've always found the complete opposite, except with chocolate, although I do like Aldi's rum & raisin.

Aldi - very bad They seem to have dumped all their excellent own brands in the frozen food section and replaced them with the awful Aunt Bessie rubbish. Not happy.

Used to enjoy doing aldi shopping (only time I would go out for long period of time ) However while it was cheap I had more impulse to buy more, and I find the dates on the items where never amazing. I found quality on certain items you can't really tell diffrence between more expensive products. on a whole though I feel quality is sub par on majority of their products. Worst part of aldi is variety, I enjoy my cheese and my local aldi only stocked basic cheese. They lack large packs of margarine like tesco.

Moving to tesco online shopping I ended buying healthier food, more variety in my diet, and was spending little more however enjoying higher quality foods. I've also manage loose bit of weight. Enjoying foods I've never even tried.

I really fail see the big attraction to aldi. Your food is so important, and can't understand why any would want to sacrifice quality for little extra doe.

Wrong. I asked for some yesterday and the manager said it was purely a one-off special. He had heard that it might become a regular item but it never happened.

I travel 12 miles to my nearest Aldi, purely because I prefer their products to anything I can buy at the local big supermarkets. Their Extra Mature Cheddar at only £1.59 is better than any I've been able to find elsewhere at any price.

You must be specially honoured.

Btw - not food-related, unless you're weird, the horribly named 'sweat pants' they have in at the moment are excellent. They're a good, snug fit and you can wear them without people thinking you're from Poland.

Surely that depends on the individual.

True. I have skinny legs and hate the ones that flap around in the wind like sails. These are the closer-fit type that the serious athletes tend to wear – not that I fit that description at all, in fact I only bought them because I need to go to a physiotherapy session.

Well the reason why ALDI and LIDL are so successful is because people don't find the products to be of a lower quality and in some cases are much better than more expensive branded items.

Even if they were the same price there are products which people find preferable over other supermarket or branded items.

The selection of organic food at Aldi is wonderful,
potatoes, carrots, onions, broccoli, mushrooms, cauliflower and organic bananas too. They don't always seem to have Organic milk on the shelves.
I like the Danish loaf too. Every other supermarket is swamped with the brand who are huge donors to the Tories.

You were right and I was wrong, or at least the manager of my nearest branch was. I happened to be passing one well outside my usual route when I called in for some of their excellent Kooliburra Shiraz Canernet. And there was the coconut oil, although next to the pasta sauces for some reason.

It's just been announced on the news that organic carrots have been dropped from the list of shopping items that the government use to calculate inflation. As I buy them, I wonder if this will affect the price of Aldi's?

Hi.
I have recently bought their Nutrient Blender for £29.99. It is the same as the very popular and fashionable Nutri Bullet which I think is around £80.00. I ordered it online and it was delivered within 24 hours. It's very good so far.

I like most things in Aldi, except their version of shreddies, very, very bland (as are the Lidl version). The other cereals I've had have been comparable to brands however. Thinking about it, I'm not fussed on their baked beans either, a little sweet.

I'm not wrong .... I'm right! been a stock item at our local Aldi since I posted above and someone else on here also confirms this. Hope your Aldi gets it soon.

ETA: Just seen you other post! Alls well then! It's great stuff.
