I wonder if anyone from Aldi reads these comments? If they do there is no point whatsoever in keeping a store open until 10 pm if they run out of butter and potatoes......

I had a fear of them. Not sure why, I think I believed it was cheap shite however my opinion has totally changed. You get some really nice stuff there.

I was going to buy some of their Kahlua-like liqueur today (is it called After Dark or something like that) but couldn't see any. Either they're not doing it any more or it was all gone.

Their £16 'proper' 40% brandy is good value.
The smoked mackerel is lovely and incredible for £1.29.
The smoked and the lemon & parsley are the best IMO, the peppered and peri-peri are OK if you like really strong flavours.

Specially Selected chunky maris piper oven chips are lovely.
Had some of these the other day, they are absolutely delicious.

Yesterday I noticed that they had a "coffee and cream" chocolate, similar to one that Lidl used to do but no longer has.

It's a chunky bar with a bottom layer of dark chocolate and the upper part white chocolate, which combines to form a coffee taste. It's delicious - I'm not sure whether to be glad or sorry to have discovered it.

(Here's a case where I would have used the much-missed rolleyes smiley, directed at myself.)

I like their frozen peas and corn. They taste good and are reasonable priced.

I bought some of their economy brand tinned plum tomatoes and they were honestly as good as Sweet Harvest or Napolina.

I bought somebody a box of their Moser Roth chocolates (in the dark blue box) for Christmas and they were the best I've ever tasted in my life. But now they've stopped selling them.
