I have a Dell laptop (Inspiron 15R) and a lot of the time when I type, my hand brushes the touchpad and the cursor moves, so I find I'm typing in the middle of a previous sentence. It's really aggravating!

There is actually a button on the keyboard that is supposed to disable it, but it doesn't work.

Usually you can go to control panel and adjust the mouse sensitivity.

I think the setting is called 'palmtouch'.

There are software means of turning off drivers. I used one a PC that would not allow me fron Control Panel.

Just google trackpad off software for many choices if you can't do it directly from PC.

Try adjusting the settings of your touchpad first, e.g. increasing the palm block sensitivity and updating the drivers for the pad.

If all that doesn't improve things then disable it.

Have you tried looking for it in Device Manager?

The Synaptics touchpad device Settings are usually there in a tab in the mouse settings.
If not, I suggest you install the latest for the laptop..
