Most people have said there is no way Kim would return playing Sam and that they would stick with Danniella Westbrook. However, Sam hasn't been in EastEnders since 2010 and I just wonder if the producers will plan to bring back Kim as Sam in a few years time... They might have realised that Danniella's return wasn't very good and it was a mistake?

I just wonder when Sam Mitchell will be brought back to the show, as it's likely she will be back at some point. I just would love Kim to take back the role from Danniella, as to be honest she really isn't a good actress, is she?

They've made it impossible for Kim to return. Kim's stint and the character development Sam underwent has been wiped from existence. Sam is back to being shallow and bitchy and if she returns she'll be played by Daniella Westbrook. I'd love Kim back but swapping actresses back and forth isn't a good idea. They never should've went back to Daniella in the first place even though it's not her fault there was no continuity with the character.

Probably not, which is a shame. As Broken_Arrow said, they've pretty much made it impossible at this point. In fact, I'd go as far as to say the character of Sam in general is pretty much done for.

Okay, the re-imagining of Sam when Kim Medcalf was cast was quite a departure from the original character and required a bit of lenience on the part of the viewer to believe it, but it's reasonable to expect the audience to accept a character dramatically changing once. Sure, the turnaround could be seen as a bit far-fetched, but sometimes people do change. It wouldn't be the first time a ditzy bimbo had sharpened up and thrown herself into business. Kim's Sam was a big departure from the original Sam and it was asking a lot of the viewers to accept that she'd change so much, but if you make that kind of commitment with a character and completely reestablish them, then the producers should honour that and stick with it - because what's really unbelievable is that that person would then inexplicably revert back to their former selves a few years later as though nothing had ever happened. They didn't make any attempt at consistentency when Daniella returned, it's like they expected us to just brush the Kim Medcalf era Sam under the carpet and forget about it, which is pretty dumb considering she wasn't exactly a background character at the time.

It was a really stupid move and has left the character completely in limbo. They ballsed the character up by bringing back Westbrook when Sam had been totally redefined. Had Medcalf been brought back when Sam returned then I would be all for a return - but not now that Westbrook is back in the frame and the character has been reverted to her old self. It all feels far too messy and inconsistent. Re-re-recasting with Medcalf would just make things worse. It's like two different characters living in duality.

I wonder when and if Sam Mitchell will return to EE again...

It's a shame the Kim Medcalf Sam want introduced as a different character. She really worked well in the show.

Medcalf was a much better Sam than Westbrook.

Actually if you watched her in HO she was really good. It's the EE writing that makes her bad as in HO she's shown she's capable of acting brilliantly. Also I don't think there's anything wrong with her acting. I like DW and wish she would come back as Sam

I think its a rare thing that the recast was better than the original. Wasn' it the producers that wanted Daniella back because the storyline was to revolve around Ricky and Bianca and thety wanted Daniella back because she had more scenes with these characters?

It was a bad mistake because, except for Richard Branning fathered by Mr Sperm nothing really came out of her 2010 stint.

They should have waited and asked Kim back - maybe she doesn't want to come back. Maybe Barbara Windsor wanted Daniella back? I guess we will never know.

Kim Medcalf as Sam was more classier than Daniella Westbrook can't stand Daniella.

I still think Kim can be brought back as Sam because, Sam had a baby, and she is most likely to grow up now after giving birth, and bringing back Kim would be the perfect grown up Sam!

Kim Medcalf is a far better actress than Daniella but Sam Mitchell is meant to be blond, trashy and loud so for me Daniella is Sam. Kim was far to nice and posh to ever be considered Sam.

I think it would've been far nicer to see Kim's Sam with a baby and being with Jack... Afterall, Kim Medcalf's Sam is very similar to Ronnie in terms of personality. Danniella's Sam is more like Roxy.
