Problems with Lovefilm instant on Samsung tv

Has anyone had problems loading the Lovefilm app on a Samsung tv recently? All was fine until last night when I was told to download the latest software for my tv which I did but still the app tells me to download software. Lovefilm have suggested I download firmware on the Samsung website to usb and then download to my tv.

^ Yep, thats what I did, anyway. The TV was telling me it was up to date via the online update menu option, so I went on the Samsung website, downloaded the latest firmware, then ran it on the TV with a USB stick. The Lovefilm app worked OK after that. Try that.
You'll find the new app a bit.... different. It works a bit like the Xbox 360 menu system. I was hoping to find a bit more discussion on it here, but maybe people will later.

Just in case you were scratching your head (like me) - when you've copied the latest firmware file onto your USB, RUN IT to extract the data. I was just plugging it into my TV and wondering why the hell it couldn't find anything!

Yes, the new Lovefilm App is pretty much like the one on the PS3 (and, reading the post above, the X-Box). Also, seems to me there's much more stuff available in HD.

Thanks. I had a very helpful email from Samsung who told me to download the latest firmware to USB and upload to the tv which I did and now everything is fine. I quite like the new app. I knows which episode I last watched from a series on the home screen without having to scroll through loads of lists.

Been having the same problem over the same timeframe.

TV said it was on the latest firmware, but LoveFILM wanted us to update.

Tonight, the TV did an automatic update, and now everything is working fine.

If you run a "mac" then you will need to call Samsung Tech and request a USB update - they'll send you the stick because the download is not compatible with Mac. Then - sorted !
