Sharp lc32d12e problem

Currently have a 32" Sharp LC32D12E TV and have had it just over a year, but it's started to develop an annoying fault.

Watched the TV on Sunday evening and the set picture went off and the set then had a flashing LED. Picked up the remote control and pressed the on/off button to turn on the TV set.

The same thing happened last night too.

Anyone give advise or help as to what could be the cause?

TVs have self diagnostics built in. The flashing LED is probably flashing a code, something like morse code. See if you can get the code down. It will repeat at some point. Once you have that you can look up what the code means using Google.

Chances are that it's a fault caused by a capacitor. What you won't know is whether that has then affected something else in the chain.

However, before attempting (or paying for) a repair you should contact your retailer. If the TV is only just out of warranty then ask them if they'll repair it for you. They may even get some support from the manufacturer to get the repair done free or at reduced cost. Did you buy from a shop or online?

The TV was bought from Argos.

So far this fault has happened last Sunday at around 9.45 pm, and the TV was on from around 11.30 am, and it happened again last night at around 9.30 pm and the TV was turned on at about 5.30 pm.

Well it's not going to heal itself, so I suggest you contact Argos, pronto

I've been told by Sharp to do a reset of the set as a first time installation as it could be a hardware or firmware fault
