Tonight’s match is the 1000th in the 8 years of the Champions League prediction competition. We have 28 players still with us for the final:
Real Madrid v Atlético Madrid
15 players have gone for Real to win, 6 have gone for a draw and 7 have gone for an Atlético win. Five players have gone for Real to win 2-1, three have gone for 2-0 and two players have gone for them to win 1-0. We have four players going for Atlético to win 2-1 and one going for them to win 1-0. Both the 0-0 (with a gamble on Atlético) and 1-1 (with a gamble on Real) draws have been selected once each. There are 11 players going for the final to feature at least four goals. Four players have gone for Real to win 3’1, three have gone for a 2-2 draw (two have gambled on Real winning and one has gone for Atlético) and two players have gone for Atlético to win 3-2. Both the 3-2 Real win and the 3-3 draw have been selected once each.
For those players still in with a chance of winning the overall competition, this is the current state of play at kick-off:
DimSum----------------- 307
tso----------------------- 306
DimbleBurbleby------- 293
MinkyJoe--------------- 287
tonypennys------------ 282
charlieparr-------------- 280
WoodsMonk----------- 279
However, factoring in the predictions made for the final only three players can now win:
Any scoreline that sees Real win (at 90 minutes) will see DimSum crowned as Champion.
Any scoreline that sees Atlético win (at 90 minutes) will see tso become the first player to win the title for a second time (having triumphed two seasons ago).
A goalless draw at full-time will see MinkyJoe tied at the top with DimSum – meaning that if Atlético were to be the eventual winners then he would triumph, whilst Real prevailing would see DimSum emerge as Champion.
Any other draw at 90 minutes will see DimSum win.
