BT usage limit
Glenn A
30-08-2013
Twice this year I have received two pointless e mails from BT when I have exceeded 6GB near the end of the month( I'm on 10 a month). I think this is stupid as I seldom exceed 7 a month by the end and usually my usage is 5.7 a month. Anyone else agree?

No I don't agree, you would have reason to complain if they didn't email you saying you were close to your download limit and you then exceeded that limit and were charged, but all they are doing is what they say they do for customers on download limited packages

It is BT we are talking about here though, no matter what they do it is the wrong thing for some people.

They used to send you a warning if you went over 7, so going over 6 on the 30th of the month is a bit how much. However, compared with AO Hell that I used to be with, BT are miles better.

"a bit much"?

The OP should be thanking his/her ISP for the warning - not moaning about it.

BTW, the OP said "near the end of the month", not the 30th

One of the principal reasons I left bt was the constant over limit fees despite being at work all day

I sort of agree but all these things are automated so I don't let them annoy me any more .... I used to take them personally .
10GB/PM may be enough for you Glenn and others but it is a very small/mean allowance for most, that is what I would find annoying if money was tight and I had no other choice than BT.

Tesco mobile send you text messages to remind you to top up by a certain date to receive triple credit for the following month.

So it's not just BT who send a messages to warn or remind you.

My friend often had problems with BT and their usage limits, they also have a way of distorting the figures. He left BT for TalkTalk and is much happier with them.

That is just paranoia. What you use is what you use and EVERY byte (up or down) counts. There is no way of "distorting" that.
