Has anyone managed to use surround sound system with Netflix? Currently using scart lead from tv to surround system, which works fine for everything but Netflix. Emailed LG and they say it can't be done at the minute, but has anyone found a workaround to this problem? Sound is fine from tv speakers but would be so much better from surround sound!

I have an LG smart tv connected to my not so modern Yamaha A/V surround sound amp. ie No HDMI on the Yamaha.

Optical to optical works fine on Netflix bar the very occasional audio sync issue.

Do you have any other connection options between the tv and the surround sound system you're using?

Scart is only analogue sound, stereo at best. The TV might only be able to output surround sound from Netflix through a digital connection.

When watching Netflix do you still hear whatever TV channel you were previously watching on the surround system? Not unknown for SCART outputs to be tuner only or if you are lucky one of the other SCART inputs (if more than one SCART fitted).

Does the surround system have anything other then SCART for an input? If it has an optical digital input then hook that up to the telly. As it's a Smart TV it probably has an optical output on the back. Even if the surround system doesn't have optical digital that is not the end of the world. You can get relatively cheap converters to either coaxial digital or analogue stereo.

If you don't know post the make and model of teh surround system and the model of the telly.

Hi tv is LG. 47LN578V surround system is a Philips HTS 3115. From what I can see there are no audio outputs from tv only inputs there is however an optical link socket, one scart socket and three hdmi sockets,on the surround sound I have one hdmi, a scart and a pair of audio inputs.
I can have audio from tv channel to surround sound but as soon as Netflix is used loose sound(only comes from tv). Can you tell me what the converter to coaxial cable or analogue stereo is?

In the link is a list of optical digital to anologue converters, these will enable you to use the optical digital output from the TV to take sound to the Philips surround sound system by using a set of these
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Phono-Stereo...te+phono+leads

As on the back of your sound sytsem you have 2 red and white sockets for audio in.
For this to work you will need to select 'aux in' on the surround sound for the sound system to output the sound.

Two digital to analogue converters that seem to get decent reviews are

http://www.amazon.co.uk/LINDY-Digita.../dp/B002AKXG5E
http://www.amazon.co.uk/CYP-AU-D3-Di.../dp/B0026208EI

Also if there any such options in the set-up menus of the TV set the digital out to Stereo, may be called PCM or LPCM. Don't set it to any multichannel option. The converters won't work with anything other than stereo, nor for that matter will the surround system.

Also it looks like the TV has a headphone socket? If it has then if all else fails get a simple 3.5mm stereo jack to two phono plug lead and use that instead.
