She's taken over as the lead role in the West End to play Rachel Marron.

She's got a mean voice but it's more up front gritty in your face like Tina Turner, not sure she will do justice to the ballads. Sounding good on this slightly more uptempo though.

I've always been fond of Bev. She's a trooper who's been around for decades on the uk music scene. I think she'll do a great job in this musical.

Kind of this, but would prefer an album of new material than a musical

I saw the musical in Feb/March time and was not impressed. I said I'd never go back again but I really like B. Knight. So conflicted!

As a big theatre fan I am not always a fan of Jukebox musicals, and I never wanted to go and see Bodyguard, but in the last few months I have changed my opinion and now plan to see it because of Bev, but only because of her, as I can't for one second seeing myself enjoying the story of the show.

lol cactus, you and me both. I will prob go and see it in December.

It's been a good year for theatre for me, have seen Billy Elliott, Mousetrap, Top Hat, Lysistrata and a few more. Have pulled out on a few too, Mama Mia (thank God!) and Blood Brothers.

Saw this show a few months ago, with the American , Heather some body ? In the lead role . I wasn't really keen on going , but it turned out to be really good . I hope it is as good or even better with Beverley K now inthe lead role .

OK - I'm back - my review.

Beverley Knight - Friday night - you had to look hard to see any empty seats.

First off, Bev's acting is easily as good as any other actor on stage - with the exception of Debbie Kurup, who, as Nicki Marron (Bev's/Rachel's sister) frankly acts the pants off the rest of the cast put together. Tristan Gemmill (took me half an hour to realize it was him off Casualty!) is a tad wooden as Frank - but hey, we're there for the music - so I got used to the 'American' accents from all the English actors and stopped idly wondering what it would be like if the whole thing was being done in broad brummie!

So the music. It's a good job Debbie Kurup is in the show and it's a good job she's a damn fine singer - because Bev makes her sound like an X-Factor auditionee in comparison. It made me realize just how world class Bev is as a singer.

Some of Bev's interpretations - I think you may feel you've never heard a better version from anyone - living or dead. The soulfulness she brings is just incredible. 'I have nothing' and 'One Moment in Time' will both bring tears to your eyes. There were a couple or three songs I thought maybe suited Whitney better - but I came home and Spotified and realized my memory had flattered Whitney's original vocal. Maybe 'I will always love you' I think Whitney still has that one.

But ..... Bev is a live performer - her live performances always give so much more than they've ever managed to capture of her digitally. So go buy a ticket, have a day in Covent Garden, a nice meal somewhere and then go watch Bev. You won't regret it.

People have been annoying regarding Bev. I keep reading "she didn't it as good as whitney". Well of course she won't. Her range is different to Whitney and also Beverley is singing the songs in a form of a character, which Whitney didn't as the original film wasn't a musical

She was on Alan Titchmarsh the other week and she did a very good version of I Have Nothing. Good luck to her. At least they actually cast someone talented. I am still physically sick over Kerry Katona playing Marilyn monroe.
