Yeah because of the extra real estate on the iphone 5 screen i can easily fit everything on the one screen, unlock it, bang theres my app on the screen...... quick and easy, just how i like it

And theres the fact that before i used to have shed loads of apps that i didnt actually use, so when i got my new phone i thought right ill just put the apps on that i actually use, if i dont use it i delete it straight away.

I like it though - it's quite efficient. i'm still a bit of a creature of habit though and have screen 2 on mine as my non-gaming apps and then screen 3 is games.

I suppose if i was brutal, there are probably a good few apps and games I could get rid of as well !

I also save some space by putting less used apps into a folder like calculator , maps etc.

lolwut?!!

So you don't have to organise your tiles nor put them into groups?

Widget = you don't have to open the app! Say the BBC for instance. Just read the news on the widget.

Not sure how you work out that iOS is much more efficient at that....

Its horses for courses, you will never convince an Android user that Widgets are clutter.

As for News, time, emails, weather etc etc iOS users get notifications straight to lock screen, which I consider much more intuitive than having to flick through screens to view the Widget which is no quicker than opening a group folder in iOS and running the App.

Simply because they aren't clutter.....

What IS clutter is those endless rows of tiles you are stuck with!

Yes, which Android can get as well. Flicking 1 to the left to view the widget is obviously quicker than scrolling through endless pages of tiles then opening the app..

Not endless at all. Mine (see HERE) are categorised for fast access. I have 159 Apps spread over 2 screens.

On screen 1 I have my most frequently used daily apps (18 + Cydia folder and System (containing setting and the stock iOS apps)) and on screen 2 I have the remaining 141 apps.

Using iOS intelligently makes all the difference.

My original point.

Trying to pass comment on the customisability of Android by highlighting something on a homepage that Android offers you and iOS doesn't is self-defeating.

You can do exactly the same with Android if you wish having just a screen of folders or icons.

You can do it even more so if you install a different launcher as you can have upto 12X12 rows of icons or folders on each screen (even better if you have a half decent sized screen on your phone or even a tablet).

I just have 5 rows by 4 columns on my screen though (plus the 5 icons at the bottom that stay there all the time.

I'm not disputing that at all, I know Android is very capable, my point was that on iOS it doesnt have to be the endless pages and pages of icons that some suggest with some organisation and thought.

As mine is jailbroken I can also have unlimited icons and 5 icons in dock, but dont want to have icons too small and have enough to cope with the apps I have.

Ok.

No worries (sorry I miss understood).

I just have the 2 pages on my S3 (1st page a weather widget, torch and 4 speed dials (photos on an icon) for my most common contacts along with other apps I use the most). On the 2nd screen have apps I don't use very often in 4 folders at the top with more common apps the rest of the screen.

I guess I could even get it down to 1 page if I had stuff in folders on there.

Mark.

Thats alright mate.

That sounds like a good setup sort of similar to mine with most used / not so often used. The only difference I guess is the Widget / Speed dial page.

I guess its what works best for you and makes life easier. Lets face it, its the apps themselves which deliver the content, the method we reach them is just about convenience really = shortest number of keypresses to open them.

Wrong!

Take a look again at mine about the third reply on page 1. Single screen setup, totally uncluttered, android. Nice to have the option though don't you think?

What option?

My eye site is good enough to tell the time from the status bar. Or failing the the clock app icon.

It just seemed, after hearing how amazing Android widgets are, seeing that in practice the most common uses seem to be a big clock and the weather, they just seem a little underwhelming.
