For me my favourite was Rihanna at the X Factor Final last year when she sung Stay/We Found Love.. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rSE2SOjDCN0

Worst has to be Britney Spears - Womanizer - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcrZSf03Qf4

Whitney Houston was terrible she should of not been a mentor that week if she cannot sing herself.

Not sure about the best.

Did you hear the performance?

Don't bring addiction and all that into this conversation because this has nothing to do with it. She got paid for the performance if she was not up for it she should not of performed.

Best: The Alexandra/JLS mash-up in the series 6 final - partially becuse all 5 of them looked like they were having an absolute blast.

Worst: Tulisa in series 9. It was bland and unremarkable, which for a prime advertising slot like X Factor is worse than bad. At least bad performances (e.g. Britney and Miley at the VMAs) leave you with something to talk about. If it weren't for wikipedia I wouldn't be able to remember that she'd performed.

I think people are forgetting some of the performances from the earlier years, when the guests were generally faded stars...Duran Duran for example were shocking!

as for best: Beyonce's duet with Alexandra was fantastic, as was Rihanna's performance of What's My Name?

She was more than qualified to mentor acts, but yeah, she was far from her best but she didn't need to be to be able to offer advice on the industry.

They didn't have guest performers in the early years did they?

That's one of my favourite moments from The X Factor, down to how great they sounded and seeing Alexandra's joy at getting to sing with one of her idols. No other finalist has had that experience really, they've just been lumbered with whoever was available!

Also, Alex and Beyonce's duet was one of the best moments in the shows history. IMO that seal her fate as the winner. Such an amazing performance.
