I don't know if I can stick it out this year either. The producers are really insulting my intelligence at this point, and I thought they were pretty bad before.

It was certainly a show designed to build Sharon's profile.

So why watch it then. There are thousands of other channels to choose from?

Yeah. Though I don't know why someone would feel the need to announce their disassociation with the thing the forum is actually about. That's just me though.

Well it could be a parting shot at the show

This. Not even sure the op was watching the same show as me. I loved it.

Contrived? Other than Hannah's sob story, there was nothing else really contrived about it...do you know the meaning of the word?

Nicole was acting herself...Gary was acting himself...Sharon was acting herself and Louis was himself...nothing contrived here. Nicole and Sharon are crazy but lovely...Gary's the grumpy serious judge and Louis's Louis.

I actually really enjoyed the first episode.

..and the splitting up of a group, which has happened around a million times in Cowell's reality shows.

Agreed OP
I donít mind a
bit of staged stuff but it is getting ridiculous. Laterally everything is staged now, I guess it always was but now they donít even try hiding it, the black guy was clearly acting, the rocker is already a rock type and was pretending he was clean cut, he even had the clothes on after he ripped the clean shirt off, the attempt at comedy was very contrived.

Every interaction between the panel is acted and scripted, it really is puke inducing. I donít get how people lap this tripe up. Its the same old thing again and again, the same sob stories, the same kid who hasnít washed for a year but all the girls like him, the same unlikely to succeed chubby chick with a great voice that wins the heart of the nation. I wonder if there will be an autistic contestant this year?

edit - oh yeah as that duo came on it was immediatly obvious they were going to get split up. the only thing I got wrong personally was that I thought one would get sent home. why were they not right together, they sounded fine to me LOL. for a riduclous story lines sake, two best friends competing against one another, cant wait to see how that unfolds, bring me a puke bag

Oh my gosh I agree...

Loads of people have unrealistic expectations here...this was entertainment...you complain when it isn't there and you complain when it is. This was the best launch show they've done in a long time. It was fun and didn't take itself so seriously like last year. And the judges actually bantered with each other.

Yes but after a decade on air you'd hope you'd have realised by now whether The X Factor was or wasn't for you...

I wasn't suggesting it wasn't entertaining but come on there were so many blatantly staged moments

I thought it was great. Shaping up to be a massive improvement on the past few years. It was entertaining and engaging and I really enjoyed it.

So what if some of it was staged? It's an entertainment show. If they just had people coming on to sing and that's it then it would be labelled boring!
