I will be amazed if Syco work out how to promote Sam successfully - after all, they did not really manage to do an incredible job with Leona.

I am sure I read a comment that there will be an early album from Sam which will be primarily, if not exclusively, covers. She has already missed out by only being allowed to support Beyoncé on one date, instead of 10, (because of the X-Factor tour) so I have no problem with her having a quick album. I have never really been sure why there has been a reluctance to push out an album of the best songs the winning artist has learnt and probably performed on the show.

Of course the artist will want to take time to record an album which might define her for the rest of her career, so may well be able to bring in the songwriters with whom she has already worked. That all takes a lot of time, apparently. Years ago artists could record an album in a relatively short period of time, whereas these days it takes months and months.

The problem these days is that the UK record companies only care for one thing; revenue.

If it's cost effective to just produce an album of covers then that's what they will do. Then again, this is the UK where X Factor winner's singles are also cover versions so that in itself speaks volumes.

You look at other talent shows in other countries like America and The Netherlands particularly where the contestants are performing songs that are current and in their countries chart. It's the reason why Say Something has become a hit in the US, because it was performed on The X Factor and boosted the songs profile to a larger audience.

Re; GillianG that is an interesting link and I guess you're right, Sam's target audience is most likely to be people over 40 maybe. Then again, Susan Boyle obviously had a target audience to break the record for fastest selling debut album overtaking Leona Lewis album Spirit.

Sam was totally amazing on the tour, she's so down to earth when she talks but that voice is truly amazing. Videos to come and definitely going to next years solo tour. Sam Bailey fan and proud

Sam Bailey is pregnant. Now THIS is what you call "how to promote your new album which co-incidentally is getting released in time for Mother's Day". I'd understand if the news was announced randomly in say May or June as it wouldn't matter as the album would already be released, but now? Really?!!! Hmmm...

Had to laugh at the comment I read saying "I wonder if the baby will look like Michael Bolton".

The timing of it all smacks of Max Clifford.
