I think Carla should take up with a more ruthless, suave and debonair type bloke with a air of mystique about him. That would get my attention again

This is the problem isn't it? When are they ever going to learn not to do this? Or are we no longer allowed any excitement in our sad lives whatsoever? lol. Is it something to do with health and safety or some old cobblers like that?

Peter is a bet welching loser, a misogynist and a cheap drunk. His problems with his own insecurity mean that he can't manage an erection so he becomes even more insecure. He turns to drink but can't handle it so he lashes out at those around him, especially other men who have no problem sustaining an erection for hours on end. He has no friends and only has a job because Carla feels sorry for him. His low opinion of himself means he drinks more and hates women more. The prospect of him ever maintaining sexual potency is diminishing day by day, hour by hour. One of life's real losers.

Never liked the character. A pathetic excuse of a man. Always blaming someone else for his problems, a crap Dad and not very attractive. I'm not bothered if he leaves, it might give a new lease of life to Carla if he does.

Yeah, she could always steal another husband or sleep with another psycho and rely on him to keep her factory afloat. While also alienating her own friends (what she has left anyway) until something bad happens to her and she goes crying to them with all forgiven.

Or we could leave that to Peter. I wonder how Tina will feel when she discovers his little problem.

I don't think he is a wonderful actor personally at all.
He really does rely on the people around him to spark off and does not succeed whenever the occasion arises for him to stand alone and be an individual. He is not very confident and much too self concious and really needs to lighten up severely. He was at his best when together with Leanne, but that was mostly down to her efforts in drawing him out of himself and he also had a fairly good rapport with Ken, which we don't get to see now obviously. Apart from that he's lacking in charisma sadly. |

I think he's a brilliant actor. The episode where Leanne was going to London and he was standing outside the pub arguing with Ken and he broke down and said "I loved her" and then went rushing off to the station after her, had me close to tears. I really like him as a character buit they don't seem to know what to do with him since he's been with Carla, much as I quite like their pairing.

He's got a stunner in Carla and he fought to keep her yet he's now about to pursue young Tina. So he declares his love for Leanne, then for Carla and he's now about to embark on (another) affair. Well they certainly don't want a quiet life for Peter. No matter how much he criticises Tracy, he's just another handful to the family for different reasons. He's good looking though. I would.

![]() I was hooked on that very same episode and I believed in him then. He and Leanne appeared to have a true love story and he was very convincing. I did cry ![]() But I would argue that that was really his finest hour. It seemed to me that the writers, plus the actress who plays Carla who I believe wanted to become part of a more central family, thought they could simply remove Leanne from the equation and have him be that same character with Carla, who they wanted to promote. Well you know what, they failed. He might have been smitten with Carla, as they story went but he has never been the same way with her, in other words, he's never really been himself again. He's been more uptight, more uncomfortable at some times and smarmy and phoney at others. He hasn't been the same Peter Barlow. He doesn't respond well to Carla and is rarely demonstrably affectionate and he is so kowtowed he never answers her back nevermind dare to raise his voice. It's not a relationship of equals and it shows. He is out of his depth and not emotionally engaged and I'm so glad to see the farce finally coming to a conclusion. |

Thanks, I am fed up with Carla being treated all Saintly. I wish she just stayed in Los Angeles.
That was a really good episode when he went after her (considering the fact he was still having trouble walking so it was a struggle). But then of course the writers had to ruin it later in the year with pairing him with Carla. Really pathetic writing on their part. You know it grates on me so badly how people constantly criticise the other actresses for being sanctimonious like it's the worst attribute a person could possibly have and THEN turn round and be able to forgive a manipulative, conniving, self serving cow like Carla Connor for just about anything as if she can do no wrong. It's sad ![]() It was pathetic writing to pair up Carla and Peter just for a moments shock value. Everything seems to have to be sensationalist no matter what its long term value. Pathetic indeed. And now all the same voices are demonising Tina for pairing up with Peter and slagging her the same way they slagged Leanne for being upset that Peter and Carla had betrayed her. Who is the common denominator here who never ever has the old finger pointed at her? The old boiler herself. Like I said before she could cook Simon Barlow and eat him and no one would say a word about it. They'd be offering to get her ketchup in fact |

well just lately it seems Peter has a penchant for the page 3 girl types. It seems quite incongrous when you consider that he was smitten with Leanne. I wonder if it was 'Le' he loved and anything else pales into insignificance.

Was anyone else as mortified for Peter tonight as I was? Talking about the way Carla pulled him over her knee and started tickling him as if he was five years old. Even SImon is getting a bit too grown up for that.
I actually had to rewind it to make sure it was a real person because for a moment it was a though she was playing with a large stuffed doll in a suit. Peter was really out of his depth as usual, i think he's busting a gut to get out of these scenes actually. |
