Does Eastenders need a "Roy and Hayley"
I am not a corrie fan, but I think the Roy and Hayley plot on air atm is probably one of the best soap storylines we've had in years. It's been really good seeing them interact, it's obvious how much they care for each other for starters.
So would Eastenders benefit from having a long term couple such as this pair, a couple who are always there for each other no matter what? I think it does need it's own version, certainly not carbon copies but it would be great seeing a couple deal with problems together rather than bonking someone else behind the other ones back. |

Yes they do. Maybe we'll see that with Patrick and Cora?

Yes, Dot and Jim were good but sadly health problems affected it, another Terry and Irene like relationship would be nice (minus the affair).

Oh I do love you Scrabbler.
No maybe if Alfie and Kat reunite Alfie discovers he has an incurable illness the thing is Julie Hesmondhalgh has more Acting talent in her little finger than Ritchie does in his entire body. |

Yeah I have said this for a while, the show is suffering without that stable regular married couple, we had it with Dot and Jim and then for a while with the Masoods until Kirkwood screwed them up. I'd hoped that Jean and Ollie were gonna be it but right now its sadly not to be...I know she hasn't left yet but come back Jean!

A few years ago there were tons of couples who would have been up for this job - Zainab/Masood, Dot/Jim, Kat/Alfie, Syed/Christian could all have been that couple, and even Bradley/Stacey, although they were a "cool" couple, had that bond between them that really resonated. Now, for different reasons, all those couples are gone, and there aren't any couples that could be that stable in the current show.

I cannot see Cora and Patrick ever being as affectionate with each other as Hayley and Roy are. Cora and Patrick are both very selfish people.
The affinity between Dot/Ethel was the closest the soap has probably had to the Croppers in recent memory. |

EastEnders don't have a happy, married couple living on the Square full stop. Hopefully, when Kat and Alfie get back together, they will put their problems behind them and be the couple that we care about again.
