She sees herself as a celebrity. She did have a tv series on some cable channel where she had to try her hand at 5 different jobs. She's famous for being an oddity really. She seems to be asked on to programmes to give her opinion, which reinforces her own belief that she is a person of note

I think she's deluded about her "talent" but she is very watchable. I don't think she's especially nice either. She's very self obsessed, but then so are a lot of people.

Money is of course A factor but not the whole reason. Lauren said she doesn't have any friends. Surely then anyone can see that to be popular with the public would be an immense boost to her?

I know. Plus she also looks like she's got some skin condition (not sure what but it looks like some form of eczema or psoriasis maybe - it often looks very raw...) It's a lot to deal with for anyone, let alone someone like Lauren with those two hyenas for parents.

It says a lot about her character that, despite the above, she refuses to take a back seat and continues to bounce back from the numerous knockbacks she's had.

Mommy dearest even tried to get the sympathy vote when she was up for eviction by saying that she's trying to save enough money for an operation for her back. I do feel sorry for her but not because she is genuine, I feel sorry for the environment she has obviously grown up in and the effect this has had on her entitlement complex. I feel sorry because she doesn't know any different and it's hard to dislike someone who has been so obviously created and molded by extremely sinister parents IMHO.

It is I'm afraid, but I've watched the documentary and the This Morning follow-up interview (where mummy plays two characters) as well as other videos and articles (including Lauren's own blog) and I have no doubt her parents (well mum at least) would not hesitate in using their daughter for fame and publicity. I honestly think that mummy had a greater hand in Lauren's decision to change gender than Lauren. IMO Lauren is the victim of emotionally abusive parents and that makes them sinister and Lauren not responsible for her strange behaviour and perspectives.

i totally agree with this. lauren has no discernible talents. she was once a freakish boy the public found mildly amusing and now she is a middle-aged grotesque the public watch with bemusement. as neither a boy nor a woman has she ever been likeable, merely an oddity and it's impossible to build a career on being an unlikeable, egotistical, untalented oddity. her only 'career' is to continue playing the freak (which demeans us all-- both her and her audience) but, sadly, there is nothing else to her repertoire.

Firstly,35 is NOT middleaged,Kelly Brook is only two years younger

i certainly don't view her as an 'untalented oddity',she has genuinely made me smile on many occasions and i find her honesty and desire to win BB refreshing compared to the rest of the rabble whining about being there.

It would be, but what Lauren really needs no amount of positive public feedback can give her. Public adoration isn't going to give her friends, get her into a 'regular life' (a life she doesn't really seem to want, she seeks a media career of any kind, no matter what it is) and gain her independence from her family. She has had the opportunity to be away from home - she said she'd travelled to Europe after her op, she's been to college. She always goes home.

I honestly get the feeling that she doesn't know how to be a regular person (by that I mean in the sense of socialising, being around others, making friendships, having regular conversations, building relationships). I also feel her family don't want her to be an independent person, she's been a bit of a meal-ticket for them. She's reliant upon them and, from what I have seen just on BB - with her talking to her mother's picture and saying 'you were right', etc., being out in the 'real world' only confirms to her that the bosom of her family is where she is most comfortable, where she is told she's talented, encouraged to seek fame and fortune, is the star of the house.

A very good, observant post. (A rare thing on this forum). I agree with you....it may well be too late for Lauren to transform herself but ... who knows? If she wins it, maybe it'll help bring about a chance for a new lifestyle e.g. independent.
