Just a little concerned as people have been scammed on here before.

Well we both managed to help and a delivery no matter what time does that.

BIB - Because, if you have followed some of the other threads on here you will find that Maisey has helped people having kitten/ cat issues. The ones I know about (as I pop on every now and again here) in the past few weeks involve saving a kittens life by finding, through her contacts, someone to hand feed it back to health and she has just found someone to re-home an elderly cat who's owner had died.

Not everyone is trying to pull a fast one. She sounds like she has been supporting herself looking after all these unwanted cats with the odd hand out.

Bloody amazing if you ask me.

Setting up a charity is a minefield of paperwork and to try and do that with the stress and worry she must be going through must be horrible.

If I could afford it I'd help you Maisey but just looking after my bunch of unwanted kitties is a strain, I have no idea how you have managed to keep your head above water for so long.

Oh dear, that isn't good. I have spoken to Maisey on lots of occasions before so I knew she was genuine. Today seems to be my Charity day. The other one was for refugees from North Korea.

To become a charity you need funds too do it. It's between £3000 too £5000 before you can even be given registered status at all. Believe me I have looked into it. Just look at all my posts on here Facebook etc. all I am concerned about is the welfare of the animal what ever the animal is..
I gather by one of your recent posts you hate cats especially black cats. I have always been an animal lover. I've had the cats protection a few years back her and they where fine. The reason for that is I needed two cats speying and jut couldn't get there and they used the same vets. They haven't a problem with me why have you.

BIB - not true at all, you must have confused me with someone else. I'm against cats being let out to roam, but not cats in themselves. I don't dislike any animals (except moths and maggots! *shudder*)

I'm just concerned that you need a long term plan for looking after the cats, after all you can't rely on handouts for long, generous as it is - otherwise, what happens to the cats next week? Next month? Next year?

Maiseymoo, tell me if ive got the wrong end of the stick, but do you run a cat rehoming shelter which might shut down or are you taking stray cats and bringing them into your home and keeping them?

You mentioned that there are a lot of cats (too many for a house) so presumably you have some sort of shelter for them which you fund yourself?

Either way is there a local shelter which could help out? The shelter where we got our dog from did a deal where if you had a pet from them you could buy food from them at wholesale price. Maybe a shelter could help you in a similar way which would cut down the cost of food and litter in the long run.

I do have shelter for some of them. My own three do go out Some are to refined of the outside as well. Fluffy who was abandond and was totally matted hates the outside. . If they are it pick up able I would never let them outside even in shelter. The feral kittens always stay inside just too see if they can be tamed.
No other rescue near me can help either. I spent over a week finding a trap too loan from every rescue in my area but none had any or was asking upto £ 70 deposit for the loan too. I know I would have got it back. A local cattery near the cats in the end loaned me a trap he recently closed his rescue down too. Loaned me one . There is nothing like it in my area at all.

I really admire your true dedication and commitment to cats and the help and support you have offered to others here - but I agree that short term crisis management is not going to solve your longterm financial problems and your ability to provide adequate care for your cats. All these cats cooped up in your home can't be good for you or them, many of them must be stressed and they certainly can't be receiving the individual attention that most domestic moggies get. If you can't actually re-home your cats then you're just accumulating more and more - where will it end?

However I don't doubt your good intentions and kind heart. Perhaps it would be better for you to work with a registered cat sanctuary. I adopted my cats from Cats Protection and they had been residing in a local cattery - the lady who owns the cattery has cages for boarding, which makes a profit for her, and she reserves quite a few pens for the use of Cats Protection when they run short of local foster homes. CP obviously pay her for their use and provide all the food and litter but they pay less than private boarders. Could you not set up a cattery on similar lines?

Anyway, I hope you get a resolution to your current problems. I just hope you recognise the limits of what is actually achievable if you're not in employment and dependent on benefits and hand-outs.

I do hesitate to add here - because from all her posts, the OP is a dedicated cat lover. But the question has to be asked. Is this a cat sanctuary where adults females are routinely neutured and kittens rehomed. Or - and forgive - a cat hoarder, where the number of animals may just be overwhelming and re-impregnate and breed?

OP - just how many cats do you have and how many helpers do you have? And are they all regularly inspected by a vet and neutered?

Please believe me - I am not being at all negative and would be more than willing to help. But am a little confused as to what sort of cat sanctuary you are managing. xxx

No all but three and the kittens are not neutered. They are not done under vets advice. One of my cats Garfield was refused too be neutered at my normal vets because of his eyes . The vet even phoned me up too see if he was alright the next day. But in the end I did take him to another one he was neutered and 10 days later he died in my arms. My last visit was with lucky who we thought would be pts but after tests and samples taken they couldn't find anything wrong.

With the volunteers there is only me too. I would have too have public liability insurance for any body that came too help out too. I have not bred any kittens either. Like I have said there nearly all feral cats or have feral traits too. I have two blind ones both from different liters . The dad too many of the ferals I have is owned but they will not neuter him or his brother. In the past I have got a free neuter from cats protection , I have offered too pay but they ain't bothered. I am going to pop the kittens up for a check up once they are easier too handle too. The vet wouldn't have any fingers left if he tried it now. Also if I can't manage too clipp fluffy she will have too be sedated and clipped then. I would never whine a feral too anyone that I didn't think could cope either. One of my first rehomes went missing the other week and the owner came too me for advice and too cross post. Lucky she came back

Maisey you helped me in the past with advice for my kitten when i first had him. In my job i work closely with various companies and get sponsorship for events and organisations. If you like i can try and get you some sponsorship of companies such as Mars who make Whiskas products and Purina. Maybe i can speak with them and they'll send you some crates of food. I can't promise anything but i will certainly try for you.

This is an excellent idea, most homing centres are run on donations of food from companies, because they send out the animals with a bag of that food- thus encouraging owners to stick to that diet. Perhaps you could find a local food (like warleys - they're hull way) and see if you can do a deal.
