I have brought up two kittens from a feral mother - who was later adopted and became a lovely home cat.

The real problem is people who just can't be bothered to take responsible for their cats. They don't get them neutured. They move and leave the poor moggy to survive in the wild and then a generation on - they are considered as feral.

It is a growing problem and without official action - I just can't see an answer. If only every cat had to be registered and licenced - but it will never happen.

In the meantime - if we want to really help MM - then what is importance is to make sure that all the 35 cats she has at the moment is neutured so they cannot breed. Then - start to find them new homes. I honestly think that four or five cats in a normal house is enough.

Cats need to be socialised with human contact to be rehomed at an early age. At 10 plus - there are problems. At 35 - it is impossible to give them the human contact they need unless there is a real structure with helpers.

Bottom line - MM needs to get as many as possible neutered and then find new owners for them. She really shouldn't have more than four or five cats in her home.”
