Caring for a cat with arthritis

Hey all ,

My cat is 15 1/2 yr old and she is still full of life to the point where vets have asked am I sure of her age ...... I was there when she was born

Now for the last 2 years she has been diagnosed with arthritis and has been given metacam however recently we have seen really it's not working like it used too I know she is elderly but only really struggles sitting in places like on arm of sofa yet sitting on flat surfaces she's slow but she sits ok .

Is there any other treatments known for arthritis in cats ? Or anything I can do to help her ?

Like I mentioned she still can run around and gives our 2 yr cat a run for his money lol

i had a cat who was given steroid injections for pain and to help inflamation, he had spinal spondylosis, i knew that steroids can be very bad for dogs (my mother-in-laws dogs got kidney after just 2 months on steroids) but my vet said cats didnt react the same way, my cat had an injection every month for over 2 years...they really helped, i could tell when the jab was wearing off, he was given metacam too but i was told that it could cause internal damage if used too long and he hardly needed it with the steroid jabs.
We made sure my cat didnt have to jump any where, used a step to help them get on the bed and the sofa and left soft blankets in the places he l iked to sleep so he didnt lay on anything too hard.
I have arthritis myself and one of my treatments is an anti infamatory so maybe steroids will help your cat?
