Thanks soupy, Mark and Derek reckon Julianne will tell it like it is. Corbin's thinking it's nepotism lol I suppose I can understand his point of view, but then he's got dance experience, so everyone's got some advantages Don't think he was being dim just honest. Whereas Karina knows Julianne and sees it as being a good thing, although she did say in the competitive world, it wouldn't be allowed, any friend or family member judging. Val kept his head down and didn't say anything.

Julianne did say during the show, she understands the dancers point of view and will throw away the' 4' paddle, so hope she is not going to dole out high scores, willy nilly
I suppose I was thinking 'unsavvy' rather than dim, really, just blurting stuff out instead of playing the diplomat and Karina having to catch for him . Val's 'butter wouldn't melt' smile spoke volumes . I thought a couple of them alluding to Julianne bringing some technical knowledge to the panel was funny . I think she'll be great, but hope she won't be too nicey, nicey.

Yes Corbin did just blurt it out lol. Mmm Val's smile did speak volumes, wonder if he was hoping Maks with be another guest judge speaking of nepotism Julianne is a nice person generally but hope she goes a bit 'Shirley Ballas' and gives a good technical critique.

I definitely disagree with you there. Derek is as good as anybody else. Anyway that's not about his dancing. Was it necessary to bring that kind of bashing here?

There are differences of opinion & there's nastiness.
IMO your comment was nasty.

Oh...........Sigh................my comment was not meant to be taken too seriously; I even added these 2 emoticons " " . I was just joking, being sarcastic.Maybe sarcasm or jokes don't translate too well sometimes via a keyboard lol.
My intention was not to be " nasty " about it. It is really not that serious.

-Lots of different styles of dances, interesting.

-Bill the Science guy said on his twitter today that he is still going to dance . I hate when people get injured in this show so I really hope that training goes smoothly for him and Tyne for the rest of the week .

-I also hope that Valerie manage to last a few more weeks; she has her treatment going on plus her knee problem .

I have a feeling that Elisabeth & Val, Brant and Peta will probably have Ballroom dances although I could be wrong.
Guess we will know soon enough

Btw this is the dance that made Derek finally win an Emmy; I remember being a bit emotional when I saw this : Pure brilliance

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ktwjHiiVz0
That was so beautiful, Brilynn Rakes is an absolutely gorgeous dancer with wonderful extension and lines.

Charleston? Oh, grief!

I'm keeping things crossed they go for 'proper' charlestons and not the Strictly gurn-a-thon version...

Not sure I can cope with a Derek-Mark goof-off .

DwtS haven't used the charleston for a while (?). I wonder why they've brought it back. Has something else been dropped? Any clue what the full complement of dances is meant to be this time? Will there be jazz? Hip-hip?

I felt there were too few ballroom dances last time, so really hope to see a return of the waltz

Actually that isn't one of the dances that made him win. He was competing against himself in that one (and Heart Cry with Allison Holker), which made me worry his votes would be split and he'd lose.

He won for these three:

P.S. edy, you were joking, we're fine.

P.P.S. In Season 9, Melissa and Mark, Donny and Kym and KellyO and Louis did the Charlelston. In Season 15, Kirstie and Maks did the Charleston.

Thanks for posting this. The QS with Shawn is one of my all time favourite dances.

I remembered the Charleston in Kelly Osbourne's series, but the Kirsty/Maks one has been deleted from my memory banks . (Probably best it stays that way?! )

LOL! Didn't Kym & Ingo do the charleston last season also? I'm going to look some of these routines up on youtube.

If too many couples are doing the charleston on Monday they might all start to look the same. There are only so many steps right?

Yes! Great memory! It's here, and you can see Hector Ramirez with the Steadicam at 4:21-22.

BIB Thanks, I really didn't mean any offense.

Oh and thanks on the clarification on the Emmy nominations, I thought he won for that piece.

I am not a huge fan of the Charleston but I am excited to see what kind of choreography he is going to come up with . I am sure its going to be fun though .

I think that they are trying season after season to appeal to a more younger demographic especially since the ratings are not what they used to be; They dropped significantly this week (probably because of the return of the Voice but still.......). This why I think that they introduce dance styles like the Jazz, Contemporary, Charleston.....

I also miss seeing the ballroom tango in this show. Its done very rarely these past few seasons.

I think that is ALOT of different dance styles all in one night...has it ever been like that? I can remember 3 or 4 different dances at most but not 7!!! Going from dance to dance...might be jarring.

I'm not the biggest fan of the Charleston...slight variation on the music and steps...but the generally feel the same to me. I can already see the faces that Mark will pull in this one!

Should be a fun night...everyone seemed to get a dance style that suits them/plays to their strength. Even Bill Nye (if his knee was okay). With his swing background Tyne could have put together a fairly decent jive (probably not a lot of flicks or kicks though).

On Strictly they barely bother with steps - just do larking-about-with-added-FUN-face and score 10s .

Ah, yes, I'd 'forgotten' about Ingo's Charleston, too .

This is one of the best example of the music enhancing the dance imo; Just look at the audience reaction . Favorite dance from this week.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzE2JFtu7Dg

I absolutely love this Paso. My 2nd favorite Paso routine from Mark .
1st has to be his Paso with Shawn Johnson, once again the music that he used was perfect for that routine.
