Sorry to pollute this thread but can Snooki, Jack ,Bill and Corbin be top 4? Amber is just overrated doesn't help that she with Derek.

Val is not that popular. Tristan and Derek yes but he doesn't have a big following like those 2. Plus he is also a very polarizing pro like Mark and I think that his comments tonight are not going to help him and Elizabeth lol.
For the female pros, Cheryl, Kym and Karina ,( to an extent ) are very popular with fan viewers and the audience in general.

I'd hazard a guess that Mark's reaction to Julianne's comments didn't do him any favours with the voting public.

He came across like he expected his friend to give him good marks regardless of how his celeb performed.... Petty and childish - and bad sportsmanship!

Note to Mark - when unhappy with comments in future - take matter up in private!

It is a shame but I think that's what happened. Most people from what I have seen last week sided with Julianne comments (even though I still dont think that it was the right time and place to say it ). So I think that unfortunately Christina suffered from that.

This new format isn't working . Its a shame that past week votes have so much weigh on the elimination process imo; I hope that next season (IF there is one ), they scrap that idea. The whole format is just not working; The ballroom looks too crowded, it looks cheap imo, I dont like how all the celebs/pros are all seated in one place next to the judges and always have to be " ON " for the cameras for 2 hours.
Plus call me old -fashionned but I miss the staircase announcement of all the couples : It felt more sophisticated and " ballroom " to me and had a more regal vibe to it
And Last night (this has never happened before) all the voting numbers of the couples were mixed up on the screen . For example , Corbin/Karina had Sasha/Snooki numbers, Bill/Emma had Leah/Tony numbers.... Can you imagine , regular viewers tuning in and just grabbing the phone to vote after the show for Corbin for example when when in reality they voted for Snooki because of the wrong numbers on the screen

WTF is going on with this show ? Conspiracy theory : Was this deliberate ? I think it was lol just kidding or maybe not ; So with this fiasco (thanks Abc ) , how are we going to know for sure that the couple eliminated next week really went home because of low votes ? when in reality it could be because people voted for the " wrong " couple .

My thoughts this week posted as I watch the show.

DWTS doing sob story week now the heart of the show Valerie has gone.

Christina - A very good but unfortunately forgettable Cha Cha. Mark did seem to over dance along with her but I think its because Christina is not all that. Not surprised she is gone this week. I thought she would be struggling in the vote and its about time a bland dancer left. I had hoped for Elizabeth or Brant though.

Jack - I like Jack, he comes across really genuine and a nice guy. Loved that waltz. Better than Abbey Clancey anyway. So emotional and really felt a connection to that dance.

Leah - Another of my personal faves and does not surprise me she survived from being lowest scorer. Just want to route for her more than Christina and has double the personality. Loved the song from Katy Perry and was smiling throughout. For a contemporary it was pretty poor TBH and the lifts where clumsy looking. Hope she improves next week.

Paris Hilton get on that dancefloor babes Corbin - Is it just me or has he got hotter over the episodes OMG Fabulous from Corbin, best dance of his. However, the end was slightly tackly. Tossing her around like a bag of flour.

Bill E - Best partnership this year. His best dance. Judges being harsh on him over the others 24 / 30 is an accurate score though I feel.

Snooki - <333 Her story so moving. Glad she got her life back on track. Horrific song choice ewww. Jazz is just a bizarre dance I think. It just looked a hot mess. She is improving each week though. Shows Sasha is just a pretty face

PMSL at this VT over previous dance experience based on the critics. It does matter cause it does not level the playing field. Anyone defending that are just saying that for Producers. The public vote for the underdog who does not have the best dance experience.

Brant - OMG these sob stories are just horrible I like feel good stories. Sorry. It's most memorable year. Not most depressing year. Anyway loved Brant's dance. Emotional and moving. Not perfect though. The band did an excellent job with this song from Elton John.

Amber - Shocked she was turned down for American Idol. Shows Simon Cowell just picks based on story and who looks pretty. Not on talent. Smug Derek thinking he can bend the rules. Cheered on Len. What a disgrace from Bruno to give that a 10. Even I who has limited knowledge thought it was not a proper foxtrot.

Elizabeth - CRINGE!!!!! What a horrific opening. Jive was bland. Sorry Elizabeth but its time you gone.

Overall happy with result.

Best thing to do is just eliminate two contestants for week 7. The vote next week is going to be suspicious and tainted because of ABC messing the vote lines up. Its the new format its just making the show rushed and tacky :sleep:

a) This results system is confusing to say the least. Voting for who you want to see safe next week (although I guess with timezones, that's understandable), announcing that a couple are in jeopardy after they perform, saving couples all over the place... tres odd.

b) I thought Bill's routine was great.

c) Someone give Derek the memo that shimmying doesn't belong in the Foxtrot.

The memo does not apply because he is Derek Hough Its ridiculous the amount of stuff this guy gets away with. Carrie Ann and Bruno would crucify any other pro's routine but when its Derek they give out 10's and 9's. So annoyed. It also helps its Amber Riley. Len seemed uncomfortable to say what he really though. Probably with this new format of the couples looking directly at the judges.

That was a bit cruel, announcing at the start, that a female celeb could be out. See the women's faces drop and the smirk from the mens.

Christina - A good cha cha, but not enough to get those scores. Not surprised to see Christina go tbh.

Jack - A good attempt, but Abbey and Aljaz's routine to that song is still fresh in my mind and I much preferred their dance.

Leah - Didn't enjoy the choreography and thought the dance was lumpy and clumpy, with inelegant lifts.

Corbin is one handsome fella. Thought he danced well, but thought his topline could have been sharper and even his hands were a bit spatulistic in parts. Can see they don't have so much of a grounding in ballroom, wish they had learned the basics to start with and ditched, jazz, contemporary and whatever else they have in store for us.

Bill - Really like Bill and Emma's partnership, seem very genuine and he's a trier.

Snooki - Jazz aww gawd please no, thought she did quite well to start with then the choreography went a bit awry.

Brant - One of his better dances, did enjoy their contemporary routine but can they turn down the circle of lights, it obscured half the routine..

Amber - Didn't like the combo of song choice, with the choreography. Derek is usually good at co-ordinating the two, that was jarring and for a foxtrot, not keen at all.

Elizabeth - Didn't like the choreography or routine plus the clothes, enough with the MC Hammer trousers Val,

Wish they would quit with the sob stories, I watch what I hope is a light entertainment show, to be cheered up and for a bit of escapism. I've got enough of my own sob stories in real life without adding to them! That is not to say I am unsympathetic to difficulties or loss in people's lives but think this is the wrong setting to air them.

I thought the announcement at the beginning of the show was stupid and mean.

Christina - CCC - (funny that she thought Julianne dissing Mark was actually about her! ). Great dance though and her a solo was good! Didn't like his pockets or his faces. Oh, the faces!!

Jack - Waltz - touching VT - sweet dance and his frame looked nice. His bum still sticks out though whatever Bruno said!

Leah - contemporary - I like Leah, but I didn't really enjoy this. I think Tony should have got some help in for technique and choreography. The tired old trope of old clothes being removed to reveal the new 'life' underneath got an outing (cos we're too stupid to get that from the dancing! )

Corbin - FT - the bits in hold looked good nice frame and elegant. Didn't like the last lift.

Bill - VW - he danced it very well, but too much waft and not enough waltz for me.

Snooki - Jazz - she put a lot into this and I can't fault the effort, but it was a mess as a 'piece'. Didn't like anything about it, I'm afraid.

Brant - contemporary - good dance, fluid and connected. I think Peta is better at this than Tony! (Seems there's only a couple of narratives to pick from. This was the most popular one - boy and girl in love and wearing their 'jamas, have a fight, make up. The end :yawn

Amber - FT - the tiny bits of FT they did looked good, but it was mostly a very showy mash-up of all sorts of things. I didn't like it.

Elizabeth - jive - sigh. Didn't like anything about it and thought she looked a bit messy.

Can't agree that he expected her to give him good marks because of their related past. Think he expected a fair critique of his dance partner. Julianne put it out in the public domain by blurting it out on DWTS, so how can it be private! Think it was fair he had the right to reply, as far as I can see he didn't descend into being petty or childish. Just said he thought it was an uncalled/unfair remark. Think if you are standing in front of someone on national TV and they say something that takes you aback, it isn't always easy to mask your feelings.

Now I am a Julianne fan, but thought it wasn't nice to say that to Mark, in front of an audience. Whether it is true or not seems a bit uncalled for.

Maybe it didn't help Christina with the votes, but I think it is also down to Christina too, cant say she made too much of an impression on me.

I agree karma. Not trying to be insensitive but this is supposed to be a light entertainment show and all those sob stories, ughhhhh. The Most memorable year of your life is my least favorite theme week for that reason.

I think it's a cultural thing though (apologies lovely American friends ). US TV just aches for a sob story and if they haven't really got one, poke 'em with a stick until they cry . We MUST have heartache!!!

I don't necessarily agree with that statement but no offense taken .
I would say this though we love " second chances ", redemption stories which is probably why snooki is so popular with the audience. People like to root for celebs who are trying to turn a new chapter in their lives. So many people who were outraged at the thought of snooki being on the show, all like her now and root for her. I'm glad that many people are warming up to her because I actually like her.

I personally think that the show last night was too much of a sobfest but shrug.....some people like it though.
Still my favorites were : snooki, Corbin, brant, bill and I have a soft spot for jack.

I think Julianne's comments must have hurt them, so I do feel sorry for Christina and Mark. I haven't particularly taken to her, but I'd rather watch her than Elizabeth. I thought Leah might be the one to go...

Mess ups with the voting lines aside, what could the show do to make it work better given the challenges of time zones and no results show? It seems wrong this way, but I can't see an obvious answer

Glad its not just me then. Agree Karma, sob stories is just bringing the show down. It makes me feel sad. I want to be entertained and happy.

In some ways it smacks of desperation, trying to pull at the heart strings. Think time would be better spent getting to know the dance pairings in training, I always enjoy that, we don't really get to know the celebs with this new format it is too rushed and then we have the spilling of the guts. Think there are differences there across the pond. Like last year with Andy and his criminal record, and his offences. He wouldn't have been given the time of day on SCD.

When Christina said, about her marriage break up, it made me think of Alesha, who had a similar experience and throughout the show don't think she mentioned it once.

I personally dislike sob stories, I mean you can't avoid them in the news but I'd like to know which producers over at DWTS are pushing such sob stories, I'd try to have a word with them! Tom said early on that he was excited about the other guest judge but paperwork hadn't been signed yet. And Val hinted that Maks had been asked but that the parties had to sit down and discuss whatever.

Since the paperwork failed to be completed, was that the reason Len returned? Was the original idea to have a siblling of Derek and a sibling of Val's both judge, to increase buzz (and controversy) about the show? I'm ordinarily the furthest thing from a conspiracy theorist, but I gotta wonder about that whole stunt.

LOL at Tony declaring "I'M A BALLROOM CHAMP!!!" I always thought he was one of the most gentlemanly pros until he got his MBT. Since then he seems so different, and it's disappointing, like finding out Santa Claus beats his wife or the Easter Bunny eats babies.


Guess I am fickle, but after that comment I'm no longer quite the Julianne fan I was. I'll still defend her, though, from charges her career is in the tank. It's not, far from it.

**After watching Amber and Derek's interview with Access Hollywood, Derek said he warned Amber what would happen if they didn't stay in hold more, but it was her story and her decision and she didn't want to stay in hold. Plus Derek said the music didn't lend itself to staying in hold, that it demanded more energy. Amber thought it was Awesome. So I take back about half my criticism. But only half.
