That went by sooo fast...Rankings & Thoughts
27 Amber & Derek - she was great. She did an awesome cha cha. Not a fan of 9's in week 1 (where do you go from there?) Anywho - kind of generous relative to the everyone else tonight. 24 Corbin & Karina - She did a nice job having never choreographed contemporary before. Corbin moved amazingly. I was VERY nervous on that lift b/c he was shaking a bit. Relieved they pulled it off. Scores seem appropriate. 24 Elizabeth & Val - loved it. Really played to her strengths. Cool seeing some new moves in that routine that I hadn't seen before on the show. Scores are appropriate. 23 Jack & Cheryl - He was much more into it than I thought he would be. Really looked like he was having fun. Scores a tad bit high considering Snooki got the same score and I think she was better technically. 23 Snooki & Sasha - She was great. Really into it and I was MOST impressed with her technique. She really sold it. Scores apporpriate. 22 Christina & Mark - Scores should have been a little bit higher or at least equal to Snooki. I'm not sure if Christina "get's" Mark's funky choreo but you have to commit 100% to sell it. Thought his style for contemporary was similar to the routine with Aly last season. Of the 3 contemp. I think I prefer Karina & Val's choreographic approach to the routine. 22 Brant & Peta - Scores too high! He was kind of stiff and I was not so blown away that I thouht he deserved an 8? Christina was better so I thought they shouldn't have the same scores. 21 Leah & Tony - a bit slow. She just needs to relax a bit. I thought Valerie's was actually technically stronger so I'd put Valerie ahead of Leah. 21 Valerie & Tristan - She really is light on her feet. You can tell she is a dancer. 18 Bill E. & Emma - I REALLY enjoyed this routine. He looked like he was having fun and he moved well. I thought he had some tricky choreo in there that wasn't appreciated. Scores too low. 17 Keyshawn & Sharna - I don't see alot of natural rhythm with him. The football fans will only take you so far. Past winners like Emmit Smith could really dance well. Scores appropriate. 14 Bill Nye & Tyne - Fun & Funny. He moves somewhat awkardly but I think he'll be much better in the ballroom dances. |

Christina and Mark had the best contemporary of the night imo; seamless, the routine flowed but yet they scored a 22
![]() Considering some of the scores tonight, they were really underscored imo. But its cool because they wont be too much ringer backlash and it gives them a chance to grow . They also scored Bill the Science guy too severely imo . It was not that bad. The opening number of the serie is exactly like Strictly lol. Very pleased for Derek and Amber; I didn't expected her to be this good. I sometimes have a hate and love relationship with him but you cant deny that this guy cater to his partner's strengths and that he is an amazing choreographer ; The best in this show IMO .I cannot wait to see the interviews tomorrow. ![]() The new format does not work though IMO. Skybox axe is a massive mistake from producers. Its kind of tacky how they sit near the judges. |

I've never watched DwtS regularly but even I didn't like what they were doing last night so, as a new viewer, I would have been put off. It seemed really frenetic as if no-one had a clue what was going on or where they were supposed to be.

Bill Nye has over 1 million views on youtube! I think it's safe to say that he isn't going next week. I know some of the international folks don't know him. But I grew up watching his science show. He was FAR more interesting and relatable than my actual science teacher. I just generally have fond memories of this nice man who wanted kids to enjoy science. Kind of like Mr. Rogers. I think he'll be around for awhile. |

![]() Her whole package was about her being scared and uncertain. The whole "arc" of her story will be her coming into her own and being confident. Probably in a week or 2 when she has a fun and lively dance style. I'm still not a fan of Mark putting the whole "flexed foot" in all his contemporary routines....but I think overall she did great. I love that song and the concept/mood was spot on. Now that she's getting into the actual latin/ballroom dances I think she'll shine. |

Not sure how one thinks DWTS copied SCD intro. They look remarkably different to me. DWTS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VkSALEFogJk SCS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkM-DsqdVFw Quote:
Its funny how SCD copied DWTS which has improved our show dramatically. Now DWTS copying SCD
![]() The new format does not work though IMO. Skybox axe is a massive mistake from producers. Its kind of tacky how they sit near the judges. I agree on the sky box. I don't like how they are sitting near the judges like that. Even in the earlier seasons before Skybox, they were backstage in a separate room. I think they did that to save time, but does it really save time? I do not get why the changed the judges box to the other side. It looks quite odd and out of place. Moreso because we are used to seeing Tom standing to the right of the judges. But there must be some aesthetic reason. Anybody know? Quote:

Anybody noticed some stage hand sitting on the stair case that led to the old Sky box during Tristan and Valerie dance?? It looked so out of place and tacky, Im sure someone told him to get off because he was gone quickly after that. At first I thought it was Tom as that is the direction where he would be standing. Half of me wants the show to go a quiet death. Another is always interested in what they will do next (even if I wont like it). |

Loved it. My thoughts for this series with y'all.
Brent - Overmarked IMO and I got Sean Lowe vibes. He is hot but just boring. Also I thought the cha cha was too hip hop not my fave choreography from Peta. Leah - I kind of forgot about her throughout the show so that's not a good sign =/ however she did a good effort but I thought it was not the most flowing of foxtrots I have seen. Corbin - I don't like contemporary and this was no exception. However I think Corbin shows potential and Kristina is a great partner. Next weeks Jive should be good. The dance looked quite awkward in parts for me. Jack - I love the Osbornes and I really like Jack. He done so well and was one of the best foxtrots I felt. However, his turning was slightly off at times but I hope he keeps it up. Amber - Loved it. However, OMG how many times do we have to see the Glee cast in the audience they got more views than Jennifer Lopez LOL. She did well, seriously over marked for night 1. Three 9 points is ridiculous. The dance did have flaws. Elizabeth - I sadly just lost attention when she was on and made another cup of tea LOL Nice lady but I think she is going to be out by week 5 I think. As for her dance it was easily the best of the contemporary style. Bill Nye - Such a hot mess I completely loved it and played it again. Really hilarious and it was the spark the show needed to spice it up cause everyone else was so boringly good. Nice to see Judges get unleashed. Hope he stays for a few weeks. Keyshawn - Horrific. Just a bad dancer with no spark or charm that Bill N had previously. My worst of the night. He is in danger of being the first out if the NFL don't vote in their hundreds. Cristina - Forgettable performance for me. However I think that's just Contemporary (Why do they have this style its just not entertaining or beautiful as the other dances I feel =/) She will hopefully improve otherwise she is out. Bill E - Bad song choice for a foxtrot but he seems like a good personality so wonder how he will handle the Jive. Not looking good for him though. Valerie - She had me in tears too love her. Hope she does well. Best female foxtrot and was very classy and elegant. Good posture.Snooki - She did really well for the first dance, it was a good Cha cha. I was surprised. Overall I like Amber / Jack as my best dancers. Bill Nye was comic value I loved it and Valerie has my heart. Really supporting her and her story. Such an inspiration. Dislike Keyshawn as he was the worst overall for me. .BIB See this is the problem with Elisabeth; She seems like a nice lady and you can tell she has dance experience, she is a good dancer but she is just so boring; By the end of the night, I couldn't remember her routine; And this is the same thing that I'm reading elsewhere at other Dwts forums; Her and Val's partnership ......I just dont get it yet; I don't think that they mesh well yet ; They are not memorable and this is dangerous in a very strong cast like this 1 where they are very dynamic partnerships already and strong personalities. She gives me Chyna Phillips vibe (One of Tony's celeb dancer who was good but was " shockingly " eliminated by week 4 I believe) ; I wont be surprised if she gets eliminated by week 5 tbh. I disagree with Brant; I was actually very pleasantly surprised by his performance; Its not easy to start first and he actualy has some rythm and very good stage presence; He really has a lot of potential; Plus he has a good chemistry with Peta. These guys were already starting with the showmance angle at the very beginning ![]() so I will tolerate their shenanigans even though Peta is not my favourite pro.Oh and he is not like Sean lol ; Sean was just so boring at times and was a bit too delusional about his dancing abilities especially towards the end. Christina and Mark had the most emotional contemporary out of the 3 imo; This is what I'm looking for in contemporary routine not a lift-athon fest lol. I still think that compared to many dances of the night, they should've scored at least a 23; 22 was undermarked !!! |

No buzz around him which I find quite surprising for a football player so sadly I think that they will probably go home next week. He will be terrible with this dance; He is so heavy on his feet and to think that people thought he would make the finale. -The jive is one of Karina's specialty; Im so excited to see this routine. I am sure that they will do very well with it. -Peta and Brant rumba YAY perfect opportunity to work more on their showmance next week lol; I think they will do just fine .- Bill and Tyne; I love these 2; I hope they stick around for a little while and I cannot wait to see their Paso ![]()

I rewatched their performance and the more I think about it....I think it's more of the judges scoring her low so that they can create a storyline.

See some of us long time viewers already know the games that the show and the judges play.I should write the script for this show lol .This will help them more in the upcoming weeks and create a storyline for them and I want them to last a little longer in this competition so I dont mind the judges underscoring them now or being harsh with them (compared to the other couples ). |

Sure she will enjoy getting up close and personal with him ![]() Keyshawn was quite a poor dancer, maybe his competiveness will kick into play, now he's seen the standard of the other dancers. Think the height, size difference between him and Sharna didn't help, she looked diminutive next to him, probably isn't in reality but next to Keyshawn she looked a wee dot. She was so good it made his moves look very weak. Can understand the pros not wanting to dance down to their celebs level though. On the other side of the coin, I thought Amber was very good at keeping up with Derek, which is no easy feat. |

![]() Most kids/teens in schools and highschools know him because they always showed his tv progamme about chemistry/physics in schools. 80s and 90's kids too...know who he is. Safe it to say that he is really popular. If he works on his technique, he will stay around for a while and upset some potentially good dancers in this competition Although he was last at the leaderboard with 14 points, I dont think that he is going anywhere anytime soon . Unfortunately for him , Tyne is not even a ballroom/Latin trained dancer. I dont understand the casting of this show sometimes especially when they are many trained dancers available so why pick someone who is a Contemporary dancer for a show like Dwts ; I really like her and love her and Bill's partnership but her lack of experience in Latin/Ballroom is quite problematic imo; As we could all see they were not enough chacha steps in his routine and he can do better; He is a social swing dancer..

Tyne didn't stand out for me, I didn't know her dancing cv. Didnt get to know her personality wise, from the little training clip, Bill did a lot of the talking while she just stared up at him. As the numbers dwindle hopefully the clips will extend, pity you don't have a US equivalent of ITT to get to know the celebs and pros better. Forgot to say Elizabeth does seem nice if a bit bland at the moment.. Lol at her not knowing how to react to Val preferring another actress, rather than her. If I was her I would have said to him, I would have preferred Tristan, Mark etc as my dance partner, Val can dish it out, but would like to see how he reacts to banter coming his way. |

I still laugh when he said to Zendaya (his partner last season ) that the first time that he learned that he was partnered with her he was disappointed and really considered not accepting the job; his words (because of her age he thought that she would be a brat, poor work ethic, immature, have a huge ego....yep said all those things to her ) and she was like this , laughed and most people in the audience gasped Lmao. Tom even told him that he should learned to keep some things to himself. Funny thing is that she turned to be the total opposite of what he thought she would be .

I cannot wait to see him with someone like Kate Gosselin, Bristol Palin..someone with no dance experience whatsoever or someone who is a diva and very difficult to work with ; He will lose it = Good tv ![]() ![]()

They did a whole 'red carpet event' the night before the launch show recording with a stand of yelping fans and a pretend press pack. It was only available to watch on the red button so you possible haven't seen it (?) and then they edited bits of it into the launch episode. |

Unfortunately, it's not shown on any British channels, so it's a case of watching YouTube clips, as posted by fridgesoup up thread or cough other means not so legal. |

; The best in this show IMO .
Nice lady but I think she is going to be out by week 5 I think. As for her dance it was easily the best of the contemporary style.
love her. Hope she does well. Best female foxtrot and was very classy and elegant. Good posture.
.
so I will tolerate their shenanigans even though Peta is not my favourite pro.
; This is exactly what they are doing
