Yes that's accurate They have restricted the number of hours that the couples can train now.

When I watched that Afterbuzz tv interview Suri Serano one of the co-hosts inferred that one of the pros (Derek I believe ) trains longer with his celeb ( I believe that was a slip up on her part and that she wasn't supposed to say it because she immediately changed the subject when she said that ).
So it is possible to " cheat " and train longer with your celeb although the rules are differents now.

This is why sometimes I love to watch that show because you not only get experts opinions on the night/dances but you also get to hear inside scoops . ITT is 10 times better though ....

Thanks edy for jogging my memory about Afterbuzz gossip. Wondered whether the 4 hour limit was perhaps related to Valerie, if she has treatment, then has to rest the next day how would she fit in her training hours? Would think some of the novices would need to put in more time, than the more experienced, Although the Derek slip up makes me wonder, how closely they keep tabs on the times

Valerie could use it because she had to lose a day for her treatment. Its going to be difficult on the less experienced dancers.

I read somewhere that they were limiting the training to reduce injuries. The producer are clueless IMO because part of the problem with injuries was when they were requiring the couples learn up 4 dances in 2 nights for the final.

They are going to have to increase the number of hours...especially when they start doing 2 dances.

I'm sure there are ways around the 4 hour limit. I mean can't they just meet outside of the studio to practice? When I watched Afterbuzz I thought she was talking about Tony going over the hours?

Anyway...I'm sure more than 1 pro is doing it.

Can understand them wanting to reduce injuries valc, they have tended to overtrain in some of the seasons, but then non-dancers may end up injured anyway, if they are not used to dancing, who knows.

That was one of my queries, with the 4 hour limit, with the introduction of more than one dance, how are they going to manage to achieve a good standard of dance and performance, with less hours training, even the pro dancers may struggle with that one.

The thought crossed my mind too, there are other places to practice away from the DWTS studios

I love the fact that when the Emmys showed the nomination clip for DWTS they ONLY showed Zendaya and Val Argentine Tango, that says it all really

Here is one of the best videos of the special Emmy Choreography number. The logistics are amazing. They took barely more than one second--less than two seconds--for Neil Patrick Harris and Derek to switch places, and to get other dancers off or onto the set. Amazing.

It was very nice of Val to tweet Derek congratulations and good wishes before and after his win.


I'll study it more closely to try to guess who that might be, but I doubt it was Derek because he has been super, super busy with the special choreography number--whichi NappyTabs said took 10 times as long as usual because of all the collaboration required among so many choreographers with differing ideas--and other commitments. Amber often tweets when she heads into rehearsals and when she's finished, and I have yet to notice any long rehearsals.

One day she didn't even head into rehearsals until almost 4:30 pm. That was the same day Maria stopped by and both Derek and Maria posted Instagram videos of Derek and Maria taking a brief spin. Also, Derek said Amber has weak ankles and was experiencing some problems with them, not enough to seek medical attention but they were watching them. I'd be surprised if they were the couple doing the long rehearsals.

Oh and as for Val's tweet, I think that he is finally learning to be more diplomatic than his brother ever was

Oh Btw now that Derek Finally won his Emmy, will he finally move on from the show ? I hope so.
I have a feeling that he wont be back next season .
I know that this is going to open even more doors for him , great for him so will he take that break from the show now ?
And I have NO Doubts that he will probably make the finale this season or the semi at least .

I think Val has been respectful to Derek & his choreography in the past and now. These tweets were from Nov. 2012. I think he's competitive at the same time and of course wants to win....as do all the pros. I don't remember him ever dissing Derek. I remember him being super frustrated that he didn't win last season (perhaps with the voting?) In any case he was pissed but I don't think it was directed at Derek. IMO there seems to be more hostility between Derek & Val fans than there actually exists between the 2 in real life.

Did you read what DWM (Val, Maks and Tony's studio run by Val's Bff Alex ) tweeted once the finale was over or what Val tweeted when it was announced that Derek was back this season ? so " shady " and hilarious; Lmao Derek fans dragged him on twitter for hours for it , smh lol.
So Imo it is more with having to be diplomatic than anything else and just respect as a fellow professional .
Imo I think that they are just good colleagues that's all. Just my opinion .
