Digital copy question-Itunes...

Just tried to download my digital copy of Star Trek to iTunes and it states that its only available for customers in uk?!?

I bought the blu ray from uk and live in Sweden: is this how it works now- country specific downloads?!? That's mental!

Its a rights issue thing. Media rights are complex because of the differing laws in each country, different companies in each country (For example Sky aren't going to buy worldwide rights to content as they don't operate in every country and if they did then it would prevent people in countries that Sky doesn't operate in from obtaining the media) and the various agreements already in place.

Its actually a bit of a grey area when it comes to importing BluRays as fees that should be being paid to certain people for sales in your country may not be getting paid for sales in another country

He'll fire.

Would it work if I redeemed it in the uk, or would it dissappear once back on Sweden?

Cheers!

I would be surprised if it vanished up it's own orifice back in Sweden. Once it's on your hard drive how would it know where you are when you play it back?

Of course the other thing you could do is burn it as a DVD video and play that.

Unless you've got a UK iTunes account then you possibly still won't be able to download it while in the UK anyway.

Could you not just create a UK iTunes account and redeem it?

Thanks for posting! I do have an old uk account which has worked to redeem the film, but now a bit confused...

When I redeem a digitalcopy I have to download the film to the HD? I was hoping I could 'download' it to the cloud so I could keep drive space free.

Also, I can't seem to sync my iPhone(4) with iTunes, so that incan watch the film on it. Am I missing something??
