She went for the easy target. She was closer to people like Louie and Vicky who also chose to boot her out yesterday ... yet she has a smug go at Courtney (who is the most timid) because she chose her to go even though thev've had 'chats'.

Carol just came off as nasty smug idiot then ”

Very well said! Louie Spence, her bitching partner called her an old boot and she seems to think that's ok, just picked on the one who was the least offensive in her nomination of her because she could have a sly dig at her and she knew she wouldn't fight back! What an absolute cow!

I honestly don't get the alcoholic comments about Carol, Betty

Yes she enjoys a drink but as I've said before, imo I think she's treating the BB experience as a bit of a holiday & when your on holiday you do tend to drink more than you normally would (I know I do)
Also I imagine she's drinking to alleviate the boredom in there.

If she had a problem with drink, do you really think she'd have such a successful career which involves being live TV every day, I'm sure there would be some tell tale signs if she did have a problem.

She's a very intelligent woman & after reading her book, I think she would be the first to admit if she thought she was alcohol dependent.
She does say she likes a drink, mostly at weekends & I personally don't think that's a big deal, most people do.

It does appear to me that some people are accusing her of being an alcoholic after watching her on tv for a few nights, which is unfair, she is being judged on how she comes over on a TV prog not on her every day life, which I imagine is a million miles away from what we are seeing

many alcoholics hold down jobs ..manage to have lives etc ... And I've seen her on LW looking as rough as hell and admitting she is hung over.. And I said she is on the edge of being an alcoholic .. She appears to need drink and gets very upset when they don't get any or when it's ran out.

Exactly, what l also like about her, is that she gives it out, but does not mind getting it back. Unlike a lot of them.

You have to pay to access the story, but the URL kind of sums the article up:

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...die-young.html

She was on holiday for a month before the show, so I think that'll be about two months without a break, but reference to colleagues' comments about her drinking suggest life is an ongoing holiday.

ETA: The URL has been cut short, so this is the first line of the article:

"PARTY-LOVING Carol McGiffin has confessed the real reason she binge drinks: she doesn ’ t want to live that long."

That's exactly her mission. Insult everyone and appear to be 'keeping it real'. No wonder Chris Evans dumped her on the radio.

I'm not saying she doesn't like a drink Betty as it's apparent she does, what I'm saying is I don't think she's dependent on alcohol or even heading that way.
I think if I was stuck in a house with some of these people & bored rigid, I'd be a bit cheesed of when the booze ran out & I definitely don't have a drink problem.

I read about this & also her response to it, which was, it was a tongue in cheek comment, not to be taken seriously, she was light heartedly saying she'd packed so much into her life, she'd get bored if she lived to a ripe old age.

I think there's a lot of truth in her 'tongue-in-cheek' comments.

"I am with a younger man and it is quite difficult when you see yourself ageing so much quicker than he is. I've got to try and keep it the way it is, rather than let it go downhill to quickly."

All the stuff surrounding Carol's drinking e.g. "Carol McGiffin drinking" and "Carol McGiffin drunk" being in the list of Google's ready-made search entries; giving interviews about alcohol; her colleagues' comments; any reference to her past all having been heavy-drinking periods; hiding alcohol; trying to stop other people having it; never taking a break, etc., all come across as much more than social drinking.

It reminds me of when Meryl Streep talks to her 'mum' Shirley Maclaine in Postcards from the Edge.

I have to be honest & say I've never googled Carol Mcgiffin, therefore I'm unaware of any of the stuff you've quoted.

I'm judging her on what I've seen of her on Loose Women, (tho admittedly I've not seen it in years) her very honest book & her appearance on BB & I could be wrong but I still say she's not an alcoholic.

Strange coincidence, most posters that 'love' Carol dislike Courtney..cue denials.

Whether she's an alcoholic or not really isn't up to us to decide. I can undoubtedly say that I was married to an alcoholic and she puts his actions and antics to shame. She may not be an alcoholic, but there is no way in He!! I'd live with her.

I would also not be her friend under any circumstances...I couldn't stand the constant bitching and moaning, and after just one imitation of Sophie and her lip I'd have washed my hands of her.

Her 'humour' is not much more than thinly veiled insults and cruelty. I always thought I liked her...shame she ruined that. I was hoping she had really gone. It was the ending that she deserved. Voted off by her housemates and with no fanfare whatsoever.

The poster girl for offensive post feminism behaviour...you go girl..you offend anyone you want with no sign of having a concience...! You can be as nasty and drunk as you want, its a sign of strength after all.! And looks nothing like a lack of self respect.

Yes I read that too. She also has regular liver checks. ONCE only her enzyme count was high. She stopped drinking to get it back to normal. She also doesn't drink every night in the real world and is very much a lightweight. They are not given huge amounts of alcohol in the house , 1 mug each is hardly heavy drinking(most nights) but none of the haters want to know that!

Carol, I like that she's very forthcoming, but her method can be brutal and be perceived by some as bullying. No harm in turning it down a notch. You'll always know where you stand with her. But I can imagine if she doesn't like you, she'd be a nightmare to live with. I don't mind her, but when she drinks, that's when I find myself disliking her. When she is sober, she's funny at times.
