I make no apologies about this as I know this topic has been brought up many times. But if I read the word "vile" once more tonight I don't know what I'll be capable of doing

Everyone's vile tonight, apparently. Emma Willis was VILE to Sophie. Nina Myskow is vile. Bruce is vile. Charlotte is vile. And of course...Carol is vile.

In my dictionary, the definition of vile is "morally debased, depraved or despicable". Yeah, so I'm thinking of rapists, paedophiles, murderers, burglars, fraudsters, thieves and Sallie Axl.

I think using the word for a Scottish journalist who asked a close-to-the-knuckle question, or an ex-soap actor who gets a bit angry every now & then, or a young Sunderland girl who gets drunk and burps a lot is wayyyy too over dramatic.

Forum users - get hold of a thesaurus and come up with some other words for people you don't like. It's getting on my nerves.

I don't think any of the housemates are vile. I am getting bored of Lauren and Courtney though, so get rid of them. Vile pair!

It is an overused word that apparently defines someones resistance/revulsion to a situation or person.

But I think is sounds a bit better than Skank, Knacker, **** and a few other beauties.

Personally, In the words of Fr Jack, I like GOBSHITE.

Vile - Extremely unpleasant. Morally bad; wicked:

I think that describes quite a few of them.

Please drop the hysterics luv.

Agreed. The word is overused on this and other forums. However I maintain it still applies to that monk Dave from a few series back.

The word itself is just a horrible word, as someone has already said on here, it should be saved for the dregs of our society, murderers, rapists etc not people on a game show that you're not keen on because they leave dirty tissues lying around or over indulge on the booze, it's a bit ridiculous innit? Its the same with the word bully! That is used far too often as well on here, but Im not even going to go there! Grrr!*twitch*

According to the OED, "vile" has been demoted to "extremely unpleasant." Shame.
