Color me confused. Maybe its just since I'm a USer watching UK BB- but I'm at a loss.

I don't understand all the Sophie hate. The Emma interview was tough, but I didn't really see Sophie do anything terrible in the house. So she gave her opinions - others do that a lot more. Carol, but evidently she is the second coming of Denice Welch. Sophie just seemed rather caring, opinionated, and a little full of herself, but no worse than any of the other 'celebrities.'

And the twist. Initially when they were showing Carol making nasty remarks about the housemates, I thought ok, BB are trying to call her out and let the other housemates see what is going on.

Then the further twist. It just reminds me of the Charley twist. So they send the nasty one back in and she silences the rest out of fear. Wow, really original. And I'm sure it will end as well as the Charley twist did as well.

I also just find Carol's drinking to be way beyond the danger zone and not something that is funny to watch. Just sad. Charlotte is on that path as well, but hey she's young.

I guess BB doesn't have much else going on with this series, so here you go. But the whole thing flummoxes me.

Would like to write more. Folks outside of the UK see things differently.

Sophie is a reality show veteran, so she has her followers. They are unhappy that she is a miserable ex-model that has had cosmetic surgery.

Carol drinks about as much as me on the show, so I am not appalled. I find her refreshingly real.

Charlotte is rebarbative.

I don't really get it either. I wasn't a Sophie fan, but why is Carol so loved! BB have these chosen ones.

Saying that though, I feel that Sophie has run her course and Carol can still provide entertainment. Maybe I just answered my own question. Still though, when Emma and people on BBBOTS call Carol 'great' and 'amazing' and treat Sophie like crap. Bit odd.

I think that Sophie has this "I would *never*" attitude that appears hypocritical considering all she has done. Nothing wrong with Sophie, she's just a fun sponge.

Carol is out there, warts & all, been there, done that, doesn't give a ... heck & it's not hard to embrace her attitude.

I think we all would rather live with Sophie than Carol, but she didn't encourage a fun atmosphere to watch on TV.

I'd rather live with a gobby cow (Carol) then a condescending, self involved know it all. Sophie wasn't evil by any means but she was fake to the point of disbelief and that's the number one quality that I hate most in people. Sophie pulling Charlotte aside when she was upset and refusing to let any else comfort her is a prime example of why people disliked her.

The opposite. I would rather live with Sophie.
That is the very reason I liked Sophie in the house. Did anyone notice Courtney comforting Lauren when Lauren was upset? No, because she didn't want to risk her game plan.
Vicky has been the only other apart from Sophie who seems to care about and comfort anyone else in the house but she makes sure no one else sees her doing so.
Sophie stood up to Carol as well. I am almost glad Sophie is out now that Carol is back in the house. Let's see who stands up to Carol now especially as all but Charlotte voted to evict her.

guaranteed if mario had been chosen to be evicted asap they would have seen it through and he would have been out, but because it was carol they did a u turn and said there was a twist, even my 18 year old daughter said to me last night its all getting to predictable, the secret room etc its all been done many times before.

You're right. But I find it very interesting (being someone outside the UK) because I have no preconceived notions of these people, who they are, what their "celebrity" means. I'm judging them at face value. Who they are. How they act on my television screen.

That seems to me a less biased assessment of housemates and their worth.

I thought Sophie was treated much too harshly. It was another example of what I see as the new childishness in BB, following the 'give Hazel a week of hell' campaign; BB seems to think that if someone is unpopular it is right to be very harsh on them because it will please the public. Did Emma ask her a single question that was not critical? And her 'best bits' were positively nasty; we know that BB always puts some negative stuff in there, but there was hardly any nice stuff and some really nasty criticism from the ever fragrant Louie.

I'm not sure why you've made this a US/ UK thing? People always disagree on housemates, no matter where they are from. I agree with your description of Sophie and have no idea why she was picked on either. Oh and I'm from the UK if that is relevant?

I think Louie said it - there is a pecking order. The celebrities are very aware of it and the people who work on the show are equally aware of it. People get a bit silly about 'chosen ones' in the civilian series but blatantly there are chosen ones in the celebrity series. It's like a celebrity class system - unfair and unmeritocratic.

An unfortunate feature of CBB but I guess unavoidable.

OP, I don't know what Sophie did wrong to receive such a reception either. What I do know is Carole and Charlotte will come out to loud Cheers, the sign of our times.


To be honest with you most of us have no idea who most of them are either, I only knew Bruce, Vicky (from TV Soap), Lauren (from BBOTS), Carol (watched a couple of times on a TV chat show), and had seen the pouncing Louie a couple of times.

I take all of them as they are on BB, to call anyone a fake would mean that I knew them very well on a personal level before they went into the BB house, that's why I have never been able to understand when people say X is fake unless they know that person from before, it is really then just a matter of opinion.

This is why I prefer the ordinary BB Enrico........strangers, so we have nothing of their personalities to judge them by........and usually they are all strangers to each other......

With this BB there have been HMs who already know each other.........and with CBB we know most of these celebs so come into the show with ideas about how they will react......some are the same.......some are completely different.........as another FM has said.......Sophie is a frequent Reality Show guest.......and has not come across well on previous shows........Love Island being one of them.......and she gives advice, whether asked for or not........a lot of people do not like this.....

Also the viewers have a habit of keeping HMs in who can stir up trouble.........just for the entertainment value........but in the end I think you will find that these HMs never win.......they are left close to the end, and then voted out........just when they think they have the win in the bag......

Edit: In the case of Courtney, I think she is kept in because she keeps asking to leave, and she interacts well with the others so is entertaining..........and entertainment is what we need........not a lot of HMs sitting around moaning about being bored and wanting to go home.....

I cannot stand Carol, she's a dried up nasty, old hag, and nothing anyone says is going to change how I think about her, she's proven herself to be bitter and twisted and generally cannot really be real as she's so far gone in her hate for life and herself that she projects this onto others.
I thought that Sophie's treatment on Bit on the Side was disgusting.

Sophie only comforted others to make herself look good. She didn't give a rats arse about Lauren or Courtney until they were saved from the first public vote, and her name was mentioned in the chants from the crowd. Any "nice" thing she does is completely insincere.
