Used to be that when I switched off on the remote and then subsequently turned back on that I would go through a BOOT cycle.

Now I see that every time I switch on I go straight into the previously selected channel.

When and how did thjis come along? My friendly neighbour's Humax still goes through the BOOT sequence every time.

Am I not going properly into Standby and using more power than necessary.

If it doesn't use more power then fine but it certainly seems a very bright l;ight

Cheers Sandy

Was the box recording, if so it won't go into full standby untill any recording completes ?

Check you haven't got a runaway recording.

This also applies if there is a recording due in the next 15 minutes.

I had a hidden runaway recording over the weekend. It created some very bizarre behaviour, not to mention a recording of Would I Lie To You with a duration of 1386 minutes!

A normal recording is a far more likely explanation for what the OP's is seeing however.

Cheers,
David.

I was thinking an ongoing runaway recording that the op wasn't aware of could explain the op's issue.

Thanks Graham and David. Knew I could rely on you.

Some further observations. In the very early hours of this morning and crouched down by the Humax I could hear the disk turning - not good.

How do I detect or confirm a hidden or runaway recording?

What is an OP? SOB I would understand but don't think I have ever been called an OP before.

This morning I proceeded to do a mains switch off and when I switched on again the Humax went through a normal BOOT sequence

OP - original poster

Check your media list for a very long recording and look at how much free disc space you have. If normal possibly just a glitch (could be a mains spike).

I had one runaway recordings months ago , so it's a pretty rare occurence (thought to be the box missing the Accurate Recording indication the peogramme has completed)

Reviewed all recorded media and none excessively long. Lots of recordings and on occasions there had been a glitched recording when hard drive had been full. This showed up in listing with an icon looking like a broken piece of film. Went through recordings again and deleted all such.

All now booting as per, THANKS Graham
