Don't get me wrong, I see where you're coming from, but I think - from a political point of view - it would open a big can of worms. After I moved to Ireland I was told by Irish colleagues that when Marks & Spencer first opened in Dublin a *lot* of people complained of colonialism. I think the reaction to your suggestion would be the same.
True, the sad fact is ladies and gentleman, our channels, RTE or TV3 for that matter just wouldnt simply have the budget to do an Irish Big Brother in the likeness of the UK one. For a start they'd need a huge plot of land for the house and studios. Then they'd need thousands of euro worth of camera and sound equipment, studio costs would be very expensive and really, who would present it? Ireland hasn't got a Davina or a Dermot who could carry it off. I think if Big Brother Ireland did happen, we'd have to import Davina lol
