Would this solve the whole "female Doctor" debate? With both Torchwood and SJA now over, a DW spin off is sorely needed! So how about a female Time Lord as the lead? Could it work?

It's a bit hard to do while the Time Lords are all dead.

Also, I doubt that it's something that would change the minds of people who wish for a female Doctor, it's a bit like no, you're not getting that, but have this secondary character instead.

The only way it could work is if on an episode of DW a female Time Lord is discovered and future episodes could feature her in Doctor Lite episodes where she takes on the "Universe Saving" role. But not as a stand alone series. In a way it would undermine DW. Sarah Jane and Torchwood didn't undermine DW because they were born from the show and written as sort of a tribute to DW.

I thought River Song was a sort of Time Lady (as she used up her regenerations to save the Doctor).

There's also Jenny, the Doctor's Daughter out there somewhere

Just bring back The Rani. She could have survived The Time War in the same way that The Master did. But, yeah, this is Science Fiction; there are 500 different ways that this could easily be done. And I agree, it is time for another spinoff.

Jenny seems the easiest, given the Time War etc and with regeration it doesn't have to be Georgina if she doesn't want to do it.

I'd certainly like to see it and it seems the only compromise between those who want a female Doctor and those who emphatically don't.

Jenny! Definitely, a perfectly good Time Lady in waiting, plus the last thing (I heard, anyway) was Georgia saying something along the lines of "nice for Moffat to keep me in, happy to come back." I'd love to see her in a Buffy-style show. I'd call it Kickass & Kindness (or is that a bit ITV?)

I think a spin-off series in the parallel universe/Pete's world would be cool. You could have a female doctor, and no continuity worries. Plus, there could be crossovers with the regular show. FringeWho anyone?

You never know we might see some female time lords in the 50th if they do flashbacks. Also agree a teturn of the rani or a jenny return or spin off could be cool if done correctly.

I think I would prefer a Torchwood spin-off to be honest, with a woman as the new lead (taking over from Captain Jack).

I think Gillian Anderson would be excellent in such a role.

Nah, not for me really.

If we do get another DW spin-off, it'll probably be a Paternoster Gang one.

I didn't really rate the actress who played Jenny, so I'm not sure about that. And the last thing we need is a whole show revolving around River.

Use Romana, she is stuck in E-Space right?

Books, Audio and RTD (in a written article on the Time War) had her returning to Gallifrey and becoming President.

Lalla Ward was asked to do something (presumably by RTD since Moffat says he hasn't considered bringing the character back) on NuWho but turned it down.
