Was just wondering if there were any chihuahua owners on the forum? I'm due to get our puppy in 4 weeks time and don't know anyone who has ever had one before. They're great wee things aren't they? What kind of personality does yours have?

Betty is gorgeous she is just 2lb and is going through her first season so humping everything her furry duck has a permanent look of shock on his face these days ! She is a rascal and recall is not her thing at all but she is I think too clever by half as she is cleverer than us ! She loves playing with Mollie our retriever cross collie and plays quite rough we have to save poor Mollie sometimes or she gets bullied !

So destructive I don't think we have ever had such a chewy puppy, and our wallpaper will never recover

I got my very first chi a couple of weeks ago, Toro. He's my mini bull, teaming up with my 13year old staff. He's 11weeks old and a tiny tornado! Gives my Staff a run for his money lol!

Can't fault his temperament or behaviour at all, clean in the house from day one, quiet all night, took to his crate like he had always had one, and bold as brass on his first ever walk.
A practically perfect puppy, with full credit to his breeder!

What a lovely wee chi! I can't wait to bring ours home. I didn't wanting leave when I went to see him

Betty was clean extremely quickly too, and when we go out she is quite happy in her crate but over night she likes the bottom of the bed, under the duvet and licking my toes LOL

I've got a Chihuahua, Coco. She has always been very clingy and is at her happiest sitting either on my knee or right beside me. (This is a typical Chi trait though) She is also very fierce and on ealks, she barks at dogs that would eat her for breakfast. But overall i couldn't have asked for a better dog. Chi's are so loyal and very clever and cheeky. Coco makes me laugh every day with her cheekiness and is always getting up to mischief. Anyone that has a Chi is very lucky, to have such a loyal, loving dog.

I have found that chihuahuas don't realise how small they are and nowt seems to scare them!

That's exactly what Coco is like. Small in size but mental she is the size of a German Shephard!

18 year chi owner here. Had my first when I was 17 and he passed aged 16! I have two chi girls now. I had the two boys at first who are passed now.

It's lovely to hear everyone's experience of being a Chi owner I'm so glad that I've chosen the breed. I'm so used to large breeds, so it's going to be a bit different!

We have been quite strict with Betty she isn't allowed to bark at bigger dogs, nor is she allowed to leap all over them or be in any way a nuisance to them. It's really not far to allow even a dog as small as a Chihuahua to bother other dogs, as it's the other dogs who are in trouble if they retaliate in any way.
