Louise. I know what you mean. Most people do. Like you I loved Tennant and his doctor. But I know that there are a small minority of vocal but irritating 'fangirls/boys'. Unfortunately despite all the evidence of this some posters of this forum refuse to believe in their existence. Its a bit like those who used to swear the earth is flat. Best you leave them to their delusion.

When these fangirls swarm all over this forum and prevent anyone else from stating their opinion I will take their existence seriously. Until then, I will assume mention of them to be a joke.

I presume by fangirls you mean people who have strong opinions about DW, vastly preferred Tennant to Smith, and are quite vocal in saying so. Perhaps you could tell me what's wrong with that, and why, if you find them so offensive, you can't just ignore them?

Indeed Granny, it seems to me that anyone stating a preference for DT is berated and called a fan girl/boy yet anyone stating a preference for MS is not subjected to such sweeping condemnation.

I mean, I'm sure they exist, but they're not being vocal or irritating here. You're trying to pitch this at Digital Spy, where there are so many vocal and irritating people we could be angry about first, that I find it a little baffling that Tennant's fan club - who are conspicuously absent from any of these threads, I'll mention! - are who we're collectively latching onto.

I never said they were on DS. But they exist elsewhere. That's all I'm saying. I don't give a flying fig what they say as I don't value the opinion of squealing teeny boppers. But i just don't deny their existence. I don't see why some people are intent on doing so. It doesn't matter ultimately. I love Tennant. I dont associate myself with them in the same way that although I love Benedict and Sherlock i don't have anything in common with these silly self proclaimed Cumberbitches who spend all their time on tumblr and write gay fan fiction about Sherlock and Watson.

I didn't realise discussion on DS had to be so insular as to be only limited to what happens on here. I didn't mention them. Another poster made brief mention and got some sarcastic responses for it.

The subject came up because they are the people I said I feel 10s regen sequence was pandering to. I wasn't talking about anyone the forum, so I'm not sure why any individuals took particular opposition to it.

In Salad's defence, that fanfiction DOES exist. Heck, one of my friends is a writer of it! >_< And believe me, it exists in the plentiful.

Three-to-Four is probably the best IMO.
Four-to-Five, Five-to-Six and Nine-to-Ten were also very good.

I don't mind Ten-to-Eleven. It would have been better if it weren't so pompous and grande and all the moaning gnashing of teeth beforehand weren't there, but visually and musically it was very good. A lot of people hate the line "I don't want to go". Personally, I think it would actually have been a pretty good final line if and only if the Doctor had been seemingly more accepting of his fate during the previous few episodes. It would then have been an interesting twist when it was revealed that for once the Doctor is actually scared of regenerating and doesn't quite want to do it, but wouldn't have had long to dwell on this thought before the new guy was prancing around our screen.

I don't think the line ended up working though. It made the Doctor seem cowardly.

I feel it's highly unlikely that RTD would be so enamoured of young female fans of David Tennant that he would let their sensitivities dictate what he would write.

I suspect he just thought it would be a fitting end for Ten.

The reason I was sarcastic about your use of the word fangirl. was because, although sometimes it appears that they have amazing influence, and people complain about the hordes of them that haunt the streets, they are simultaneously able to ignore them quite easily.

Everytime this subject comes up I'm surprised by the mixed reactions. I thought it was an emotionally charged moment, loved how the line could be seen as coming from the Doctor and Tennant.

Watching Tennant's last had such an emotional impact for me. Boy can that feller act!

I don't see how anyone could consider the Doctor cowardly either if they were watching the same programme as me. He "did the right thing" after all. Terminating his own existence to save the life of an old, inferior being.

If he'd chosen to let Wilf die, that would have been cowardly and not the heroic Timelord we have come to know something about.

The Doctor showing his frustration at having to do that, for me, just helps him to be a more credible, realistic character.

Eccleston to Tennant is the best regeneration of the entire run. Chris was so great in The Parting of the Ways and didn't disappoint in that final scene. I also think Billie sold her side of it really well, perfectly representing the new audience's shock and confusion at what was happening. Brilliant TV.

It was over emotional and self indulgent, and Tennant's "I don't want to go" was whimpering and pathetic and made me think "I really really DO want you to go! Now!" I really liked Tennant's Doctor but he was starting to grate on me towards the end of series 4 and by this point with the looooooooooong drawn out regeneration it was too much!!

Having said that, I don't hate it. As long as all future regenerations aren't the same. If it was just a one-off for a self important over sentimental Doctor then fine. I can enjoy it with that knowledge. Next time, make it a sudden, exciting, sad but fun and enjoyable regeneration. As they should be.

Hated the Tennant regeneration. Much preferred the 9th Doctor one.

The Doctor's sacrifice of his life for Peri just felt slightly more genuine than 10's sacrifice for Wilf.
10 was fairly sure it would trigger his regeneration. 5 thought it was genuinely the end.
Although it has to be said that Murray Gold's Vale Decem music was beautiful..

Whoa. How did you manage that? In my experience at least the fanart of the same variety as the fanfiction saladingers mentions or other mention of johnlock are pretty much impossible to avoid if you even pass by some parts of the internet that is home to Sherlock fans. If you ever do cross roads with some of the authors of these I'd advice you not to try to reason with them because you'll likely be accused of being homophobic sooner or later.
