I don't recall them ever doing any specials or anything for their 10th, 15th or whatever years, not like the other soaps do, is there a reason for this??

Wasn't the fire of 2010 the 15th anniversary. There is also a big stunt for the 18th in October.

Yeah, the anniversary in 2010 was the huge fire in the village. They're doing another big stunt for their 18th this year which I assume involves Browning returning for a week and the McQueens, as Browning's actor reveals we haven't seen the last of Browning and he'll be back for a bit in October.

I remember when it was their 15th they said they were not going to celebrate in a major way because they were going to focus on their "Sweet sixteenth" because they thought that was more fitting for Hollyoaks.

However i am not really aware of anything major happening to celebrate it. I could be wrong though.

They're probably too embarrassed.

Hollyoaks has been the best soap all summer, they have nothing to be embarrassed about.

I thought they celebrated 'landmark' birthdays, like the Sweet Sixteenth, this year's eighteenth, and they'll probably do a 21st too.
I think it's fitting.

I think Mercedes and Riley's wedding was the week of their sweet 16th and that was their way of celebrating. Obviously a week later we had the Halloween episode when Silas killed Heidi.

For their 15th they did the fire thay killed Mal and Steph and fortheir 'sweet sixteenth' they did Mercedes and Riley's WAG wedding and all the Silas stuff coming to a conclusion.

They have also said their doing a big stunt for their 18th in October and in 2 more years they will be 20 and I can see them going BIG for that

I could see them blowing up the whole Hollyoaks village for their 20th.

I can't remember if it was 2011 or 2012 but around the time of the anniversary there was a scene with Tony in what used to be his restaurant, with a few flashbacks from over the years. It was a nice way to mark the birthday.

It sounds like they have big plans for this year as it's the 18th.

There was a program called The Good, The Bad & The Gorgeous in late 2009 and that's when I started watching it. I think it may have been its 15th anniversary

Didn't they do Mercedes and Riley's train wreck wedding for their 16th?

If anything, they celebrate their anniversary more than any other soap. They seem to do something to mark the anniversary every year, whereas ED, Corrie and EE only mark every 5 or so years it seems..

It'll be epic when it happens. But that would only happen when Kieran leaves. I can't see Emmett going back before then.

I just assumed that HO didn't like doing anything big because of their time slot and the amount of viewers they would pull in.

They celebrated the 3000th episode with the birth of Darren's twins, the opening of Look Sharpe, the *cringe* Guy Candy concert and Brendan walking a horse with a naked Mitzeee on it through the village. Not an epic celebration in the usual sense of the word but it was clearly marking the occasion.

In 2010, Paul Marquess passed over the chance to officially celebrate the 15th anniversary in favour of celebrating the "sweet sixteenth" the following year. Unfortunately, his contract was cut short and he was temporarily replaced with Gareth Philips who didn't share his sentiment for celebrating the 16th birthday. So we kinda missed out in one way, but we still had some decent stories around the time of the 16th birthday.

I just assumed that HO didn't like doing anything big because of their time slot and the amount of viewers they would pull in.
Umm...
