I cannot understand why she isnt big in the UK, she hasnt had a top 10 single and i love her music so much...i havent found such a powerful voice, there was whitney but seriously...Jennifer is amazing, she even out stagged beyonce in dreamgirls! i hate beyonce the B is for bitch! im sorry but jennifer made me cry on VMAS singing about homosexuality if im not mistaken...her voice is so powerful, i relate to her single spotlight and i remember me...why doesnt anyone like her as much? :\ she seems so down to earth too

I think Jennifer is an INCREDIBLE singer! Amazing powerful soulful voice. For me though I'm not that keen on the music she's released so far. I think it lets her down. I love her performance in Dreamgirls because I love the songs she sings in that and she's brilliant on Smash, again singing songs that really show off her voice. I think she's at her best when singing show tunes and soul classics from the 60's. It's almost like she's around in the wrong era. Put her in the 60's and she'd outdo Aretha Franklyn, Gladys Knight and others. In my opinion she's that good.

This is my opinion too. Her last album was good and needed better promo. The lead single was good.

I think there is truth in that. Modern Soul, Gospel and Jazz voices are very much niche-market.

Good voice, Crap material all there is to it.

Jennifer is a good soul singer but Aretha is better; Dusty Springfield and Tina Turner as well. And Tina was probably more versatile as she could do rock music too. A good artist does need to be able to choose good music to perform?

Her voice is too jazz hands Broadway than soul IMO - if you want underrated check out the other soul diva apart from Fantasia on their Idol year....The divine La Toya London

I love Jennifer and she will always be one of my favourite artists of all time. The problem is though, her voice doesn't translate well onto a recording

I don't think she's underrated, because she's probably one of the very few soulful artists whose name is even known anywhere outside the US. Noone talks about Fantasia, India.Arie, Chrisette Michele or Marsha Ambrosius, but J Hud is known! And she's known without having hit singles. That's quite an achievement!

What I would like her to do though is step her game up. I found both her albums offensively mediocre seeing how strong of a vocalist she is. She needs better music and she has to be brave and go for a less expected sound, like old school soul instead of contemporary r'n'b. I understand that the genres that truly suit her are small niche markets, but even as a niche artist, she'd sell much better than she is now.
