Moving your text messages across
Hi everyone
I currently have a Motorola v500 on Orange PAYG and am getting a Nokia 7610. I am just going to take my existing SIM and put it in the new phone. Can anyone foresee any problems with this? How do I move my text messages from my old phone to my new one? TIA Suze |

Dependent on the SIM Card you've got and the age (i think), a certain amount of SMS' will be stored on the SIM and will automatically move across to the new phone. All depends on how many SMS' you have stored in the Inbox.

Thanks. I am not sure how to save texts to the SIM. It looks like they are all saved to the phone... hmmm... Suze Quote:

If you (Suzey) smack your SIM into the new phone, take the 10 text messages from the SIM and store them to your phone, then delete the 10 on the SIM and repeat (ie. putting the SIM in the old phone, loading it up with 10 texts and transferring them over) until you are finished. Another possible way could be via a PC, if you have the appropriate data cables and software.

Yes, they will all be saved on your v500.
There are two ways to transfer them. 1) If there are only a few, borrow a SIM card for the 7610 and send them from the v500 2) Use the Motorola software to copy them to your PC and then copy them to your 7610. The Nokia includes a USB cable or your can use BLuetooth. Depending where you got the Moto you may need to get hold of a cable. |

Thanks very much for the info. I don't have a cable but am using Bluetooth and it only gives me the option of moving sound and picture files. I'll have a think about it... Suze Quote:

My Sony Ericsson T230 holds up to 15 text in inbox before it becomes full. Im not sure how many it can hold in the message sent box as I dont usally keep more then 1 or 2 text in the message sent box. I usally start to delete the odd text in my inbox when it gets over 12.
