![]() Rang BT and the guy said the SNR (whatever that is ) on my line needed to be reset at the exchange and he had sent an email to the team to do it.how long does this take anyone know? It sounds a bit confused at their end. They can't alter the SNR - which is explained at http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/linestats.htm#SNR - unless they do something physical to the exchange or wires. What they can do is adjust the target SNR the exchange sets for your connection. That can vary between 6 and 15, and the connection speed drops accordingly as it sets at higher levels. However, I don't see how changing the SNR from even 15 to 6 will account for your speed being down more than 90%. 50% yes, not 90. I wouldn't be surprised at all if thats really a fault at work. And even if the SNR target has reset itself from 6 to 15 , that may be because its picked up so many erors that its adjusted because of that. Hope they do it soon, and it works. But if it doesn't you will have to battle BT India to find a fault - which is never good news. |
