The NHS may have some problems, but it is still an amazing service which many take for granted.

It would be silly if Corrie made the NHS out to look really bad when its not.

Rather have it than not have it. The negatives are always made to stand out.

Thsi is not real life - in Corrie they are never on a ward - they always get a private room.

The nhs has it's problems but the good experiences far out way the bad. Unfortunately as in any business when they do good people thank them and get on with their lives, only the bad makes it to the press

I'm sorry, but people who say the NHS is a bad system are very inconsiderate and ungrateful. We are one of the only countries in the world who get our healthcare free of charge. Okay, so we pay tax for it, but it's there when we want it, and nobody has to pay fees. In the good old USA, only the rich can have the expensive, life saving stuff. Here, the man off the street can go in, and have whatever he needs done performed, regardless of cost.

Yes the system has it's flaws. But we have it, and that is enough. Be grateful.

Don't knock the NHS, it's mostly extremely good.

I don't want to get all party political here but look behind the headlines.
'Some politicians' would dearly love to privatise our health service and force us all to buy medical insurance so that their rich mates can get even richer.
If they can convince us all that the NHS is rubbish, which it isn't (and after two coronary's and a severe stroke I have some experience of hospital treatment), they could get rid of it without too much trouble.
If Nick was anywhere else in the world the doctors would be asking for money first before hooking him up to the life support and if he hadn't got insurance David's dilemma would be over because Nick would be dead.
The same thing is happening with benefits, or' welfare' as they have begun to call it. Convince everybody that those who claim through no fault of their own are the scum of the earth to be despised by all and it's but a short step before all welfare benefits are stopped.
Josef Goebells would have been green with envy

Why would Corrie show the NHS in a bad light? That's not the point of the story.

Exactly. And why does everything have to be shown in a negative manner.

Totally agree, It really annoys me when people moan anout the NHS if we didnt have it people would soon moan about insurance costs etc, and they certainly would never go to A+E with a cough!

When my mum died of cancer, the hospital that she passed in were amazing from the normal ward to the specialist cancer part of the hospital all the doctors and nurses went out of their way to support us and gave her all the treatment they could!

My brother lives in America and has to buy insurance for him his wife and two young kids, last year he had to find over $4000 in excess because my niece had to have a op that would have been free here (ok we pay do pay taxes)

Sorry to go off topic but it really grates on me!

In my family's case they haven't been. My sister is thinking of suing them for negligence.

Corrie shows the NHS about right.

I suffer from CRPS and blood clots (pulmonary Emboli) and they've saved my life on at least 3 occasions over the past few years and each time I had to stay in hospital they made it as comfortable as possible.

Yes they have problems, but so does any big institution/company
