Another thing I find hard to understand is why EVERYONE no matter what personality or type they will always spend their evenings "in the vic". I like a drink every so often, I live right next door to a pub, but I don't go there every night. If they buy an average 3 pints a night at £2 a pint, that is £42 a week just spent on booze. Lets be honest here, someone like Dot would not go to a pub every night, nor Pauline Fowler. If Ian was smart he would open up his own pub, seems like they are all heavy and constant drinkers. Also what happened to Ians market ?

Some past and present EE wonders........

Where did Taqiq live before he moved in to the Square and how did he get there every day ?

Where does "Clint" live ?

Where did Gus live before he got his flat in the Square ?

Why would Mickey's family move to the Square just because Mickey spends every day there ?

Has anyone ever managed to get money out of the tube station cash machine ? Every time so far (Alfie, Pat, Sam, Janine) it has told them their account is empty.

Why did Paul accept his predictable death so easy ? Sure he cared about what would happen to his family but he was in the house for at least 10 mins, he could of sneaked out of the back, called the police, or anything, even the police can turn up in 10 mins. I am sure the whole family could have been whisked to a safe house (ala The Jacksons).

Why was Vickie allowed to stay for so long with her aunt when she is Michelle's daughter ? Surely Michelle would have visited or wanted her back. Speaking of Vickie, did any character actually care she left ? Seemed very low key.

Michelle is a very selfish bint, EVERYONE visits her but she never comes back to visit. Did she even make it for her brothers funeral or marriage ?? (yes, obviously I know the real reason that the actress no longer wants to work on the show, but hey, fun picking holes huh).

Why is every shop so small ? The cafe, the minimart, the video shop, all of them are about 6ft by 6ft.

What happened to the Gym ? Although the snooker hall got burnt down, what has it become since ?

So the youngsters want to go clubbing, where do they go ? Angies bloody Den. The hip and happening place of Walford.

Where does Martin keep the fruit for his stall ? Also who delivers the new fruit ?

Why does the Pool table in the Vic keep appearing and dissapearing ?

Where did the money come from for the Ferreiras to buy the taxi firm AND the house, considering a week earlier then were penniless and on the street ?

Time is another thing never mentioned..."I'll meet you in the Rovers at lunchtime"...they all seem to have lunch at the same time and it takes the same time to arrive there for everybody, whether you are coming from the factory or Peru.

"I'll meet you after work"....and like clockwork, they do.

All the factory girls in Corrie are always hard-up yet can afford cooked breakfasts every day, cooked pub lunches and alcohol every lunch time and take away for their evening meal?

And how is it Martin gets to work on any hospital ward he chooses depending on whichever Weatherfield Resident is sick / pregnant / had an accident?

.......and whenever somebody has something really important to say they can't get the words out. "Listen Ian, I've got something really important to tell you-", says Jane. "Go and take that order will you" says Ian. "But I need to tell you-", says Jane. "He's been waiting 10 minutes", says Ian. "No, really-", says Jane. "Listen I need to pop out to the Suppliers", says Ian, and off he goes, leaving Jane frustrated. You always have two characters who are having two completely different conversations!

This happens all the time and it gets on my nerves. I feel like getting hold of the person and shouting at him to JUST TELL HIM.

Other old chestnuts (mostly relating to EE)-

Nobody ever goes on the Underground in Eastenders. They all use taxis. Of course, money is no object is it?

They all eat cooked breakfasts.

They start various stories up and they just fade away without any explanation - the recent football team for example.

Why doesn't anyone in Eastenders ever mention anymore the famous old war hero that died last year?

Nobody can fight properly in soaps. Except Zoe.

What happened to Janine in Eastenders? When is/was her trial? Why doesn't anyone mention it? If that happened in our street it would be talked about all the time.

Ditto for the stalker Sarah.

Why does everyone in soaplands have to sleep with virtually everyone else? In Eastenders practically everyone must be related in some way to everyone else by now.

How does the Slater family manage to survive? What is their income? Before Charlie got his cab licence back Zoe was living with Dennis so they had no income at all as far as I can make out. I suppose Big Mo has a pension? Is their house paid for? Same for the Millers - how do they pay their rent (I suppose they rent it as it would be really pushing the bounds of believability to have had them buying the house)? Rosie doesn't earn any money because her "pay" for cleaning the Vic is free drinks for Keith. So that leaves Mickey (aarrrgghhhhh!!!! why doesn't he just nob off?) as the only earner and he must make a packet on his crummy little stall.

Before Dennis started working at the club and then the pub what did he do? Did he have a job?

Minty used to be the landlord of some flats. What happened to them?

Where the hell are Sonia and Martin?

Where are the Ferreiras?

Where is Derek?

Why do characters disappear for weeks on end without anyone appearing to notice.

One final thing - whoever it was that was wondering what happened to Spencer, don't worry, be happy.

Why is it always Spain in EE? Cos they're all crims at heart and Spain is their spiritual home!

My mum, and my grandfather

Oh, and Spencer's with Maxwell.

Why do so many houses in the Square stand empty for so long? The way the property market is, you'd imagine they'd get sold after a few months. But then whenever someone does sell a property, the deal's completed by that evening

Yes in my local theres a guy paid to stand at the jukebox, and whenever a fight or a row breaks out, his one job is to turn that music off so we can all listen to what the row is about

I always wondered how any of them could afford to buy or rent properties in Walford - most of them are either unemployed or in low paid jobs and London property prices are not exactly low!

How do they manage to get council houses so easily when other people wait for years?

So many questions! I wonder if the writers will ever address any of them?

Why Leicester? Is this anything to do with the Ferreiras, considering its large Asian/ethnic population?
I've never heard Leicester mentioned by any of the characters in EE.

I'm in Leicester today actually - nice city

No - the DeMarcos were all exiled to Leicester, and despite the fact its only about 2 hours from London, they've never beenheard of again.

Am I missing something here but who the hell is Maxwell ? As the poster above mentions, Spencer was sent there. Perhaps I am forgetting a major character or name, but god knows who he is.

Also how come Kat manages to swan off and live a high life when as soon as Alfie got kicked out he was on the streets ? Didn't he have any money saved ? Or am I missing something again ? Also didn't Spencer have a managers job ? He must have had money from that to rent a small flat (even if he had to lie and say he was living alone, better then the streets), especially as he was still working. Surely it can't be yet another case of "well, if a house isn't available in the street, we wont live in it".

Isn't it very convenient that a stall holder just happened to be selling up for Alfie to be able to get it rather then wait the 3 years on a waiting list for one ? Also where did he get the money for the stock ? Speaking of which, where did Mickey and Jules get their stock money from too ? Can't all be sale or return on a starter business, it wouldn't be allowed.

I also agree about the person chatting and not listening to someone who has something important to say, and in the end they ALWAYS say "it doesn't matter" after spending 5 minutes trying to talk. Or another thing they say is "Alfie, I have something to tell you" Aflie turns and says "yes", person then replies "oh, doesn't matter" or they say something totally unrelated to the obvious thing they want to say.

Yes, I agree too about the Janine thing. Pat was the person who pretty much sent Janine to be arrested due to her "evidence" yet what the hell happened about the trial by jury ? There was no confession or damning evidence, Pats word is just word against word and wouldn't hold up in sending her direct to jail. Pat would spend weeks or months going to court to give evidence. Yet not only has she not done this it has not even been mentioned, no one even cares what the outcome is. I am also a little confused what happened to baby bobby, is he still about or did he get taken away ? Where has Gus vanished to ? Also how come the Millers/Jules stall vanishes and appears when a view of the market is done depending on which episode it is ? Surely they can't choose what days they work on the market.

Why is it that whenever someone dates someone it is always someone from the Square, and if by chance it isn't, then it is either a one night stand or that person then does move in the square pretty damn quickly.

He's a Moon cousin, played by someone who used to be in the Bill. On that note, why is there always a convenient family member to take someone in in moments of crisis, yet they never come to visit their relative on the Sqaure (or Street, Bay etc)?

Obviously the EE producers are listening to some of the comments made on this site because, having recently explained how they cram so many people in the Slater house and whose house the Moons are squatting in, tonight they reminded us that little Bobby still exists. Probably in the near future Ian will casually bring up in conversation that he has a nanny who looks after him for whole day (and most evenings as he seems to spend much of his time in the Vic).

They will probably also explain in the near future why it is that no-one has a washing machine - apparently the electric system in the houses around the Square are so old that a washing machine would overload the circuit. It's true.
Charlie will explain it......

The most shocking thing about the washing machines situation is that the B&B doesn't have one, I mean for heavens sakes, that is the one place you would probably HAVE to have one.

Ah, now that one I can believe - that's what the place I live in is like! I've only been here a couple of years, and over time as I worked in one of the pubs I got to learn just how many of the locals are related by marriage or interbreeding - quite shocking.

Isn't that supposed to be an upcoming story, about Keith being found out he's claiming something he's not entitled to? I imagine they'd do alright on benefits and would have at least most of their rent paid.

Quote:
“Where the hell are Sonia and Martin?”

I asked this somewhere the other day - they arrived back from America, went in the Vic for an evening and then disappeared for another few weeks. Surely Pauline should have been fussing over them like mad?

And....why can everybody buy and sell houses and businesses within hours of having the idea?

Where do any of the market traders keep all their stuff? Is there some giant lockup somewhere on the square we never see?

And of course the washing machine thing - that's always bothered me, it just isn't natural. Everyone's got a washing machine. The laundrette is where you go with things that don't fit in your washing machine like your duvet or your throws and it costs a fortune, even for a 'normal' load (as I found out when my machine died)
And, most of them go for a service wash instead of doing it themselves - which is going to cost even more - and do you ever see them actually pay for it?
Defairmans

I hate how they bring their service washes in and it is only half of a carrier bag!

Regarding some questions:

*The Ferrerias pay monthly rent to Sam for the taxi lot.
*The stalls are kept in a lock-up somewhere. That is how Alfie was able to open Ted's stall without him knowing--because Martha had the keys.
*When the Millers moved in, they mentioned it was a council house.
*Dennis was in prison before he came to Walford and then started working in Angie's Den.
*Minty mentioned that the owner of the bedsits he used to own was selling and he was kicked out as landlord.
*Dennis entered and leaves all the time by the tube--or Walford Station anyway, and Alfie arrived that way too!

I agree about Janine. That really bugs me! She was taken away and never seen or heard from again. And now the Moons are squatting in her old house.

AND why is a cup 'o tea always the answer to any problem?

Yeah, that was funny. I was in stitches at those episodes. But on a serious note (wish I had an icon) that portrayal was not fantastic.I am Irish and I remember thinking at the time that I wasn't so annoyed at the stereotypical image but rather that for a country just across the Irish sea, it wouldn't have cost a lot to do some proper research. Whatever about dismissing them off to Spain, EE and Coronation St have a huge Irish following and they should actually remember errors will be picked up on. As an example - Ken & Deirdres weekend trip to Dublin, where they managed a 4 hour trip to Cork to kiss the Blarney stone

Sorry if I sound pedantic, but it is fairly easy and basic to check stuff like that out. I would gladly offer my services for a reasonable sum

The Brookie "white rabbits" are now on Hollyoaks, usually being watched by Max and OB.

Also in Hollyoaks, why does everyone seem to eat Banana Bongo's?
And how did Lisa and Cameron manage to get places living in halls so easily when they live just up the road from HCC. In past years students such as Eve, Jodie & Becca etc had to move into the private sector because there were no places in halls. Even Joe and Robbie had to fight over their room. Most universities won't give places to local students until the ones who live futher afield have been allocated places, yet Lisa and Cameron seemed to be at the top of the list.

In Corrie

- Where did Craig and Rosie get all their goth gear from overnight? I can't imagine Sally & Kevin or Tommy & Angela forking out for a new wardrobe just like that and some goth clothing costs a fortune!

- When will Hayley Cropper get a new coat?

Others I can think of

- Why are there no welsh people in soaps like Hollyoaks, Corrie etc? Has there been anyone since Huw in EE?

- Where are all the asylum seekers?

- How come pets conveniently vanish, for example Maxine (Corrie) and Zoe (EE) both had cats.
how r u?

that money thing has always puzzled me. i thought it might have something to do with keeping it realistic. maybe if they started putting prices on houses etc they would get complaints saying it isn't worth that much or it's worth more than that etc. house prices are changing all the time so it might be difficult filming in advance and keeping it up to date. maybe it's too much hassle to get everything valued absolutely correctly. i don't really know...
