I know she took Tommy but she still lived on the square for
3 months after he found out and he never seemed bothered about where she was living then

I guess because Kat and Alfie were anticipating that Ronnie would get a jail sentence for what she did, so didn't expect her to be around for too much longer.

It was stupid and unrealistic for her to live on the square with Tommy back then and it's stupid and unrealistic now. The stupid has picked up where it left off in 2011.

Alfie has turned in to a horrible old man. Kat has improved a lot lately, if she is able to see how much Ronnie suffered then Alfie should be able to move on too.

I completely understand Alfie not wanting Ronnie around. Making Roxy choose him over her own sister knowing full well he's in love with Kat is why I dislike him.

Not everyone was going to accept Ronnie straight away but I think by the end of this 6 months stint, we'll have everyone come around to the idea of Ronnie being in Walford.

I wouldn't want the woman who kidnapped my child living across the road from me either, I completely understand how Alfie feels. He was made to believe his son had died, he grieved for that child, he cried for that child, he hurt for that child, he buried that child. All the while the woman who had kidnapped that child was walking around the square with his son.

Oh yes, Alfie is being so unreasonable not wanting that baby-stealing psychopath living across the road from him.

She swapped his live son with a corpse. I wouldn't forgive that.

At least she gave him back. Ronnie got her corpse back and served a sentance. Time to move on. This is Walford were past crimes are yesterdays news.

What Ronnie did was unacceptable and unforgivable. But Ronnie didn't do this on purpose. She did this because she was grieving.

Ronnie didn't get caught, she did the right thing and handed the baby back. She served her time in jail.

Yes she did. She deliberately swapped her dead baby for Tommy, and she kept him for four months.

Grieving parents don't steal other people's children. And yes, she's served her time but that doesn't mean Alfie has to be ok with her living in close proximity.

True, I don't know why I said she didn't do this on purpose. My bad. She didn't do this out of malice. She wasn't thinking straight when she swapped James and Tommy. Ronnie was actually planning to give Tommy back on the same day but Jack stopped her (he didn't know that time). Ronnie made a terrible mistake (very unrealistic storyline). Yes you're right, no grieving mothers do that though. But Ronnie had suffered far too much in her life. She really does regret her actions.

She was still on trial and he was bothered - both he and Kat were but they were too busy looking after the baby they thought had been killed off.

It was known to happen in the 50's and 60's - the time period when Call the Midwife is set and based on true stories - so it's not unheard of. One young woman had her baby taken away to be adopted simply because she was an unmarried mother at 16 or 17 and she ended up taking a neighbours baby because of post-pregnancy hormones etc. The baby was reunited with its parents but I bet not all were.

While I don't think Ronnie is evil or a bad person, I'm with Alfie on this one.

Because Alfie will be painted as the bad guy in part of the attempt to have this ridiculous return actually happen. Imagine your baby was kidnapped and swapped with a dead one. You spent 4 months grieving for that child, utterly heartbroken and lost. It effected your family, strained your already fragile marriage and just genuinely was hell for you. Then you discover that your baby has been alive and well all this time. That a woman, the wife of one of your best mates no less, sneaked into your bedroom while you celebrated downstairs, checking on your baby every chance you could get away, and swapped her dead baby for your living one. You'd want to rip her limb from limb.

I didn't watch the show back when all this came out as it had long since descended into the Birkwood depths of despair and horror, but I remember reading Kat and Alfie did everything they could to make sure Ronnie went down, right up until the last second when Kat decided she could forgive her; after all she'd lost her baby. Alfie never forgave her, but as long as she was in prison, he never had to think about her.

Now she's free. The woman who did that to him is free... and now we are being asked to think Alfie is wrong for not wanting her to live on the same street as him and his son????? That he is the bad guy, that he is so evil and bitter towards this woman. Come. On.

Of course, as usual, Ronnie's return is already being poorly handled and she's only just shown her skulking face for 5 seconds. Does not bode well.

I just can't stand Alfie and can't believe that Roxy would be with this cringey character.

I'd like Ronnie to come back and kidnap Tommy again for his own good!

Earth. Where we have this device called a TV which allows us to watch drama, fantasy and fiction. It's great!

It's like when Wilmot-Brown came back to the Square after he'd done his time.

So if EE was real and this actually happened in real life, you would think it was wrong for Ronnie to move back to the square?
