The Day of the Doctor

Running Time: 75 minutes

Source: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-24030127

Other highlights include a BBC Two lecture by Professor Brian Cox on the science behind the hit show and the drama An Adventure In Space and Time, written by Mark Gatiss.
BBC Four will introduce new audiences to Hartnell, with a re-run of the first ever story. The four episodes are being shown in a restored format, not previously broadcast in the UK.

BBC Two's flagship arts programme The Culture Show is to present Me, You and Doctor Who, with lifelong fan Matthew Sweet exploring the cultural significance of the BBC's longest running TV drama.

A 90-minute documentary on BBC Radio 2 will ask "Who Is The Doctor?" - using newly-recorded interviews and exclusive archive material to find an answer - while BBC Three will be home to several commissions.

Great title and 75 minutes is fine for me.

Fantastic raft of programs about the show, a contribution on EVERY BBC tv channel plus a radio 2 program? Possibly more to come?

Exciting

That doesn't sound like much in my opinion though I wait to see what is confirmed to be shown on BBC 3 before making a judgement on whether the BBC has done a suitable amount to celebrate the 50th anniversary. I like the sound of the physics programme (purely because I love physics), the anniversary special and An Adventure in Space and Time. I wish they would show more than An Unearthly Child for Hartnell.

So, do we think that they are just advertising the biggest stuff and there might be more or is this basically it?

I'm a bit disappointed that it's only 75 minutes and not 90, but I'll live with it (plus there might be some prequel/minisodes additional stuff). The title is interesting and I guess it's a tie in with The Name of the Doctor.

There'll be more, the article implies that there is more than one commission for BBC 3, but only talks specifically about one of them

Looking forward to The Culture Show Special. Matthew Swert did a rather good extra documentary on one of the Classic DVD releases, might have been the Pertwee Dinosaur one.

Brian Cox hosting a lecture? Presumably with celebrity audience members asking questions. Can't wait!

Copied from S&I thread

DWO (I know, I know), is also claiming (I know, I know) that the 50th poster will be revealed this week.

Well, the author did mention in his twitter that it would be out very soon, didn't he? And it makes sense since the title is now out.

Interesting that the BBC article also quotes Matt Smith saying that: "There's lots more coming your way."

I doubt that! But at least we have something concrete, and more to wait for...

I'm pleased. Of course, I'd love more, but I am pleasantly surprised at the stuff we do have.

True but there's quite a lot there in November to look forward to and it does prove that Moffat wasn't lying about the show 'taking over television'.

It will be - in the month that it should be along with Matt's last episode during Christmas.

At last some definite information! All of which I'm very happy with.

Was partially tongue in cheek but some people on the usual sites and stuff have been ragging on Moffat for months now over the 50th being ruined/not celebrated enough.

This schedule proves we're getting a fair amount of stuff though.

And the link has been removed. I get the feeling that Moffat isn't happy about this reveal...

Don't they realise they'll get even more attention by removing the link than by leaving it up there?

I hate Moffat. He has funny hair and drives a wimpy car.
