Are Croc historically litigious?
Oh now that's a point. You know if things were reversed, apple would certainly be contacting their lawyers.

Android v IOS willy waving aside , it can't be a great feeling for Apple 5 owners (a phone that cost £529 for chrissakes and is less than a year old) to see that even Apple themselves didn't rate it much. Will this affect resale values?
I can't imagine resale values are effected anymore that when any upgraded device is released.

Must say underwhelmed by the 5s not actually sure what I was expecting, it's ok but just to expensive for a basic 16gb model. Looks like the Xperia Z1 for me for the next 2 years, then see what the 6s will bring.

Until Apple do the right thing with regards to paying a fair rate of tax I will not entertain the idea of purchasing one of their products.
You're going to find yourself struggling to buy many products if you boycott any company that uses tax loopholes - Apple, Amazon, Starbucks etc etc etc.

Apple paying less tax than they probably should would be way down my list of reasons not to buy an iPhone, sadly.

Why is it a disaster?
You mean was a disaster.. There are plenty of threads explaining why the 5 was rubbish which all turned out to be true.

Must say i was a bit underwhelmed.

I was kind of hoping they would make a bigger iphone and that it would be a fairly different design. Apart from the home button on the 5S, its identical again which is a shame. I feel the 64bit CPU is nothing but show boating which is something i was told apple didn't like doing!! I don't see it getting used much to its full extent. The fingerprint sensor im unsure of. Clever but pointless. Can only be used for 2 things. Unlock the phone and verifying purchases on itunes. Devs won't have access to it. Seem's a bit of a waste.

The 5C looks terrible. But then i don't like the lumias or the coloured ipods.

As for iOS 7, i don't know what to make of that! They have cheapened the look of it i think. Tiles look absolutely awful.

If you could work out a way of paying less tax, you would, wouldn't you? Why should a corporation be any different?

What they're doing is totally legal.

The thing is, Apple never said anything about releasing a cheap phone. Analysts, media and joe public all speculated it would be a cheap phone. Apple never said a word.

If you look at the keynote, they refer to it as a cheaper phone, but they never say cheap.

The problem that Apple create by allowing all the speculation and never stating what they're doing up front is that they allow the media frenzy to become "fact", and then when they don't deliver exactly what's been speculated, everyone is disappointed!

I appreciate that. But will the 5c really be that much much cheaper in China ? We know it's a gigantic market, but are there really enough young, affluent Chinese to make the 5c a huge hit.
It will still (presumably) be a premium device, wouldn't it have been better to launch a real budget or mid-range phone..thereby bringing tens of millions more customers into the market for the highly sought-after Apple name in China, India, and elsewhere ?
Absolutely not. Apple are taking a huge gamble just by launching the 5c i.e. it may well cannibalise 5s sales. Believe it or not, margins are already pretty tight on smartphones so the last thing Apple need is to further squeeze those margins or devalue the brand by launching an even cheaper iPhone than the 5c.

Nothing wrong with a plastic shell if well executed. You can always get the 5S though.

I don't think we can blame Apple for people believing everything they read on the internet about Apple.

Do you have anything more constructive to say other than "the iPhone 5 was rubbish"? Anything? At all?

Whilst it is boring, it is strangely comical watching you post quite as much crap as you do.

No, not upset at all. I still have my iPhone 4.

Can you say why it is you think people with an iPhone 5 would be upset?

Last years screen which in itself was simply a 2 year old screen with a bit more added at the top.

If the punters do not bite they can reduce the price of both the 5c and 5s later. Lucky for them that most punters are semi-captive network contract customers.

Yeah as they have spent £500 odd or are stuck in a 2 year contract on a phone that has been superceded by the Mk 2 and apple clearly think is substandard and have scrapped it.

I would be so furious only the soothing colours of the 5c would be able to calm me
