The ravishing and delightful Dr Lucy is back in full force with a brand new series; The Empire of Tsars.
I caught the first episode last night and loved it, and Lucy is as enthusiastic and informed as ever
Loved it as well........and only about 3 dressing up opportunities

I expect she's not going to be very keen on the Russian Revolution

Anyway, I love all the documentaries that she presents. She is so engaging, informed and enthusiastic, but in a sexy dominatrix sort of way

I think I know what you mean, but I am slightly disturbed by her resemblance to William Hague.

I think she is the very definition of the "thinking man's crumpet"
Definitely below Dr Alice Roberts on that list.

She's hilarious. Every time she goes poking around some ancient castle, you just KNOW she's dying to clamber inside wardrobes and bounce on the beds. Mrs Chuff and I think she's a hoot, and I'm so pleased to see others think the same!

Yes. She's well-known for 'rhotacism' i.e. pronouncing 'R' as a 'W'. She also has a rather rarer defect among 'posh' people of occasionally pronouncing the 'TH' sound as an 'F' e.g 'fought' for the word 'thought'.

If you go to 1:59 in this Utube clip you'll hear her say — 'So the philosophers 'fought' that ...":—

I enjoy her programmes and am looking forward to her new series on 'Murder'.
I thought the BBC were very cruel to her this week sending her to Wussia with all dem Wussians

When I was much younger, my ''thinking man's crumpet'' was Joan Bakewell. Now that I am in my 8th decade, it it fabulous to have another, in the shape of the delectable Dr. Lucy Worsley..

Love her new series about the Empire of the Tsars and the Romanov's...she is very knowledgeable and engaging...

I think she's great!

She's intelligent and witty with a dash of sauce and loves/knows her subject.

She is my hubby's secret crush too. I really like her and her exuberance but she walks like she is straddling a horse.

I think shes great.A good history presenter and not boring at all.
She's a good historian but her rhotacism gets on my nerves! (Another one is Steph McGovern who does the business news. She's very much a Marmite presenter. Personally I can't watch her.)

You may enjoy her infantile lickle girly act but I find it risible. She added nothing to the Russian documentary other than her own irritating presence.

Haha.. I think that was a missed gag.

Lucy is good at her stuff. Her programmes are interesting social history, but I fear her 'jolly hockey sticks' style of delivery will always put some people off. It's not always my cup of tea, but she can't help her mannerisms I suppose.

Of course she can. She just chooses not to.

Whether or not that's true I doubt it will deter the BBC from using her. More people seem to like her than don't like her and the trend seems to be for a presenting style where words are eased out like they're delivering a child rather than narrative.

You have to admit she knows her subject and presents it in a popular format.

She one of my not so secret crushes.

The OH doesn't like her; she said during one program "why do you always fancy the annoying ones" (Abby Martin who used to present on RT is another crush she hates)

But I like her style of presenting and find her mannerisms and love of dressing up quite engaging.

Sure, she plays it up, but that is her USP; she is a bit different to a lot of the earnest presenters of history shows.
