Anyone else think Dr Worsley looks like a grown up version of Don Draper's daughter Sally from Mad Men?

I think she should do the snooker as well
can't get enough of Lucy...... ![]() That series she did on the history of Murder Mystery Literature was terrific......I know she does some conventional history like the Romanovs and the Georgian Kings but I like it best when she delves into the side lanes of history that the textbooks usually miss out |

I guess she is attractive in a tomboy-esq manner, but unfortunately she's just another over-exposed Oxbridge posho presenter. The BBC is full of them.

That means I'm posh; but the teacher drummed that out of me at primary school.

After Lucy's first series, I was so impressed that I sent her an email to thank her for her extremely clear pronunciation, as I have hearing difficulties. I received a lovely reply which I printed out, and still have - almost a full side of A4.
I think that she is super, but as a man, I might well be biased in this respect. But it is obvious from previous posts that she is popular with both sexes, and certainly, Mrs Alycidon thinks so too. Possibly not the sexiest woman on TV, but bags of charisma which more than compensates. I hope we get many more series presented by Lucy. I wonder should I send her an email to let her know she has a big appreciation thread here at DS?

I can't get BBC4 any more as they suddenly decided to change their satellite frequency - so I can't watch Lucy these days. Shame. What I like about her is that she really gets into her subjects personally and is not above getting dressed as a servant girl and stuck in to all the grotty jobs they used to do.

Had to laugh at Lucy's sign-off from the second Romanov ep. Quote:
..they embraced, Reform, Repression and Rasputin; and faced their deadliest challenge - Revolution
Yes. Lucy. Is. Fab. U. Lous!

That Catherine The Great was a bit of a character.........
I thought it was fantastic how Lucy resisted the temptation to get those old frocks on in the Museum..........

When Lucy was going through her scrapbook with all of Catherine's lovers, I was hoping we'd be treated to scenes of Lucy dressing up as Catherine herself and re-enacting some love scenes

Rancour as she might say if she read that

I find her a bit irritating, but overall the programmes are watchable. As a presenter it must be nigh on impossible to be liked by everyone, and every mannerism will get picked over ad nauseam. The bloke that presented 'Coast' used to drive me nuts, with his weird rising inflections in all the wrong places - couldn't watch him. |

I wonder if Wurzley even knows that most of the interiors and gardens at the palaces in Tsarskoye Selo are postwar reconstructions. She certainly hasn't said so.

I think she's wrong about dirty Cath and the horse story, " Stinker " Chubber Wilkins told us about it in second year, so it must be true.

I thought she explained that of one of the other palaces, I find it extremely unlikely (especially with her position at HRP) that she was not aware of it so perhaps it was thought it would be repetitive to keep saying it off different places. But according to some people here she is just reading a script written by someone else.

Most people with doctorates I know would never use it for TV, let alone address themselves by their title, as she's done a few times. It's sad but some people in TV think viewers will respect someone's comments more if they know they have such a title, but that should depress the person him/herself, who, if they have any integrity, would not want to hide behind a title. A doctorate is in recognition of one's research, not a banner for boasting, and is best kept for academic contexts. Let the TV work be judged on its own terms.

Lucy Worsley is very good at her job, and an attractive woman too,
As my old Dad would say, "Je pourrais boire son eau de bain." (I could drink her bath water.) My wife and I make judgements on who we would be happy to be marooned on a desert island with. LW certainly ticks my box. Having said that I am head over heels over the lovely lady surgeon in Trust Me I'm a Doctor........

Ugh. Lipscomb is almost as irritating as Wurzley. Mary Beard's new series on the Romans should be starting soon though, thank god.

Was she the one with the long Goldilocks curls? Another one with rhotacism! It seems to be a requisite for lady historians. (Not heard Mary Beard speak.)
