They need more promo. I'm actually disgusted that radio 1 won't playlist them because of their age. Their is someone in Radio 1 who is a huge moron. There is no reason why teenagers and 20 year olds won't listen to a song by a 30 year old, especially if they were popular when they were younger...

Also considering some of the DJ's Themselves are nearer thirty or are in their 30's it's rediculous

It's ridiculous. Avril Lavigne has suffered the same fate, even after changing her sound to appeal towards a younger crowd.

Britney will be next.

Exactly! Scott Mills is 40 and is a great DJ.. Nick Grimshaw is younger, yet really annoying..

I think all the DJ's are or 25 Grimy is almost certainley 28-30 so it's baffling why they are snubbing their own peers in favour of snagging a younger audience. It's a shame as genuinely great songs like flatline get ignored

They have their own agenda simply. MKS don't fit it.

Radio 1 confuse me, they put it on the review show, it gets voted by listeners as the best song, and then refuse to playlist it

I've heard that some of the R1 DJs have said they like the song and fearne cotton wants them on the live lounge

Is it just Radio 1 that's snubbing them or most radio stations across the UK? Just wondering why so much importance being put on Radio 1 all the time? They're just one station. I know back in the 70's and 80's/early 90's Radio 1 was considered one of the main music channels as there weren't so many other music radio stations around back then, were there? Plus no internet of course. But today? Radio 1 are just one of many stations! If other stations, including local regional ones are all snubbing MKS too, then that's awful and certainly explains the poor sales - if no one is getting to hear the song in the first place! Such a shame when it's such a good song. Releasing it on a Friday was stupid too. Who's daft idea was that?!

You say that, but look at Mariah with #Beauitful. She is a lot older than Britney and she was playlisted by both Radio 1 AND Capital! (And nobody saw that coming)

It needs to be the right song.

I don't get the age thing, all three of the girls are below 30.

I think Mariah was playlisted because Miguel was on the track. Even though he got the "featuring" credits, he sings a lot in the track. I think radio just didn't find Flatline appealing, hardly anything to do with age. Ryan Tedder from OneRepublic is 34 and he is number 6 in iTunes. Counting Stars must be getting good radio support. Avril's Rock N Roll is an outstanding song and it is a huge shame that radio snubbed it.

The thing is its all control from the record labels. On top of that its all so called market research that decide what to play and whats best.

Another thing is it who is the current flavour of the month artists who get the attention such as slags like Miley Cyrus and Will.I.Am illuminati pop.

Are Radio 1 really that important nowadays?
As much as I love the song, I think sometimes some songs are released too early. You hear something in, say, July & love it or find it grows on you & by the time it's officially released 2-3 months on, people have forgotten about it or it's lost its momentum.

Radio 1 and Capital have the biggest influence on the charts. Capital would not play a song like Flatlines but it's totally the sort of song Radio 1 would play..usually.

Most the time it's the good music that doesn't chart, it's a compliment really.

Poor management, lack of promotion, radio one as usual being assholes... The list goes on.

Oh well, I admire their dedication for sticking by it even when it already looked likely to flop before release.
No "free gift for the fans" or "it was just a song we really wanted to put a music video to" excuses here from MKS.

It is now however being called a "first look single" rather than their debut single lol

Why can't any of you admit that the song is just a bit shit? It's bland and boring.

All the line up changes & bitching between members have alienated them all from being likeable to the public.

I doubt we'll ever see a Sugababe release do well in the charts again. Perhaps a new greatest hits with some unreleased tracks could do well?

I think the song grows on you a bit BUT it is hardly first single worthy and not worth all the hype and I am speaking as a fan here
Why do these record companies still make such mistakes regarding releasing/promotion etc?
