You've quoted the first bit and ignored the rest of that sentence which points out that there have been loads of celebs through the seasons who have been uncomfortable with latin, with many different partners.

The older the celebrity generally, though not always, the less comfortable they have been. It's not exclusive to partners of one particular professional.

The music on Saturday for a Rhumba was ludicrous and a hindrance, and it's a shame after what had been a fairly clean routine in the waltz.

Fiona clearly suffers dreadfully from nerves and I fear this will have knocked her confidence right back, and when she's nervous she forgets things. Not a great prognosis for the quick step, but I hope she proves me wrong and pulls it off.

The ones who win manage to overcome or disguise the Latin problems with the help of their professional partner.

When their professional partner does not think much of Latin dances they have no chance.

Anton is 47. Really? Is that his Stage age?

He is a professional dancer, that's what he does for a living and at "47" he should have a lot more Latin years left in him.

I've been dancing for years on the amateur circuit and I can assure you that there are plenty of male dancers in their 50's and 60's who would put Anton to shame.

I agree. I like Anton, and was always relieved for him when he got the dud dancers for this very reason. I knew it would be embarassing for him if he got a half-decent partner. Having said that, he is getting paid well and he obviously thinks hes up to the task if hes putting himself out there, so in a way he has to accept that there may be critisism.

No way is Anton 47. He is a fair bit older than that. He hs dyed his hair to try to make himself look younger but it only emphasises his age.
I have asked the question of pro dancers I know and the verdict is he is in his early 50's at least. His age isnt what makes him rubbish at latin it is his hatred of latin. He thinks it doesnt matter, he can fake it.
There are a lot of brilliant latin dancers in the 50+ competitions, Ian and Jennifer curzon have been top of the list for years and they are both now over 60 and still going strong.

Can someone explain to me (Who has zero idea of dance) what is actually wrong with Anton and his latin dances? I see nothing wrong with his latin dances personally and I don't understand what people are talking about.

I don't think Anton's Latin is necessarily worse than other professionals' Ballroom but there is a bit of a Latin bias on this forum. Also some of it comes down to image (he doesn't look like a Latin dancer). Nevertheless, he does lack fluidity and suppleness in the arm and body movements. I suspect he is not so adept at muscle isolation (moving parts of the body separately). So yes, he is not so good in that respect. Ballroom, on the other hand, is more about maintaining posture/poise whilst moving gracefully across the floor.

Laughed to see he was leading the ITT score board for the most number of drunken sailors within a given time frame. Oh the irony!

Yes, I can understand the image thing somewhat. I was watching him closely during the pro dance at the start of the results show on Sunday and I didn't see anything wrong with him but he was getting dogs abuse on here about it. Maybe I'm just blind

IMO there are no pros in the show who dance ballroom as badly as Antons Latin - Anton barely danced in time from week to week

No, not so much their fans. . . Just have a soft spot for one of them in particular (I like them on a personal level and think they are probably a good teacher, even though I'm not keen on their Latin even, let alone their Ballroom! )

Notice how "low" the judges score it - today we have marking inflation. And how young the jusges look..
