Yes, totally agree. I actually think she is lovely, and funny too, and very supportive of her charges, so it's shame that Anton has that attitude. His act is wearing thin.

Rewatching Anton's jive and samba with Laila is a painful experience. Not sure who was more inept in those! A very boring jive. Apt song choice though: there's no sign of life ! Disco samba with lots of walks in the other. Poor Laila and poor Fiona.

And to think that was Anton's BEST SHOTS at doing latin with a potentially good celeb Laila!

I never saw the first 3 series (aside from semi-final in series 3), how was Anton and latin dances in those?

In Series 1, the only reason Anton & Lesley didn't get the worst Latin scores was because Chris Parker was in that series and, bless him, he was horrendously bad at dancing altogether.

In Series 2, Anton & Esther were out in week 2. Again, they didn't receive the worst Latin scores because other celebs - Quentin Wilson and Diarmuid Gavin - were both substantially worse than Esther. Not that she was comfortable with the Latin either, mind you.

I didn't see all of series 3 but Anton & Patsy got quite far. At the beginning of the series, the worst scores went to Fiona Phillips and Dennis Taylor. Once we got to the latter stages of the competition and the poorer contestants had been eliminated, Anton & Patsy had the lowest scores for a few weeks, until they were eliminated themselves. Although that included ballroom as well as Latin.

But his ballroom dances with Pasty were sublime.I willalways remember their tango & AS. She was the one he stood the best ever chance with (they came 4th IIRC), Laila was a lazy madam if you ask me.

Sublime is a good word to describe Antons dancing talents.

She wasn't lazy at all, she just had a run of bad luck (which started with being paired with Anton)

He was very dismissive of the Latin dances when training her, and this rubbed off on her overall attitude to Latin dancing. The one Latin where she really excelled was the Paso (because it didn't give Anton too much gip wih his plastic hip), and she could have delivered a promising Rumba had she not well and truly knackered her foot up in training.

Patsy came fifth with Anton, it was James Martin who came fourth. I didn't watch that series but I have seen a few of the Latin dances they did online. IMO they weren't very good. Do you think Patsy was lazy too? I know some people are of the opinion she would have done better in the Latin dances and might have gone further if she'd had another pro.

There was some consensus on here - as much as there ever is - that she wasn't really committed or perhaps wasn't taking things as seriously as the celebs need to have a best chance to get as far as she possibly could. She was pretty good, though and maybe it was the lack of a competitive edge?
