Oh Jesus Christ he's moaning about which section it's in now!
![]() It's sold as a receiver, we all know that, but is Freesat+ capable with a third party drive added. Where I've mentioned the word PVR I've also mentioned it needs a USB Hard Drive for the function to work so I'm not misleading anyone. I put it in brackets in the thread title for that reason. I've mentioned the Freesat+ capability (with usb drive ) because it's a feature that many people would be interested in, and one that would sway me into buying the box as it did with the HD Fox T2.You don't like that but hey.... ![]()

Apart from only having one tuner and the subsequent recording limits, it's UI is identical to the HDR1000/1010s. It has series and accurate recording. and <freetime> vod services. It just needs a usb hdd plugging in.
It's as much a pvr as the HD FOX T2 is. Where else do you suggest it ought to be ? ![]() Quote:
In the Freesat forum where it belongs, Humax themselves call it a 'receiver'.

)The front of the box clearly displays the Freest logo, and NOT the Freesat+ one - just as I would expect. |

I'm with you, this poster seems to have a weird down on Humax sometimes to absurb levels. On the other hand Sky can do no wrong
![]() And what's with your completely imaginary 'down' on Humax?, there isn't the slightest criticism of Humax in my posts in this thread - Humax don't claim it's a PVR, and Humax don't claim it's Freesat+ (and would be in BIG trouble if they did). Humax claim it's a Freetime receiver, and have given it a limited USB recording feature, which sounds an absolutely excellent idea to me. So pardon me if I like things to be correct, you'd soon be in deep trouble if you advertised products so inaccurately and ineptly as you appear to consider reasonable. |

Is it Freesat+?, Freesat+ is a VERY specific logo (just as HD Ready is), and as far as I'm aware calls for a twin tuner PVR? - not a simple receiver with limited USB recording.
The front of the box clearly displays the Freest logo, and NOT the Freesat+ one - just as I would expect. . No-one has has ever said it it's Freesat+ certified. Look at the thread title it clearly indicates it's a pvr ready box. It would be kind of lonely in the Freesat thread as it afaik is the only box that allows you to record one <freetime> epg channel set it to watch another channel on the same transponder and at a guess then record that from the time shift buffer after the first recording completes.Compared to other Freesat devices like TV's with USB it's far from being limited. |

Pretty much all of us use the terms Sky+, Freeview+ or freesat+ generally to mean a recording capable box as well you know, but you just seem intent on trolling and taking the thread off topic. Why, I don't know, but it's all rather silly. Quote:

Would you be able to watch channels in the same frequency using this thing while it's recording a channel, or are you stuck watching the same one as you're recording?

These Freesat/PVR lite boxes leave me cold, I don't really see the point. It's not as if the 1000s is expensive for what it does.
I would personally rather stick three or four of the full versions in my property than the lite options. |

I disagree. The full PVR boxes are fine for main viewing, but I do find them expensive and certainly wouldn't want to pay for more than one.

Yeah - and with media sharing, you don't NEED more than one main PVR - you will be able to stream recordings from the main unit to the lite boxes. AND add on simple recording if you need it.
It's actually weird that Freesat are adding a solution that means you will be able to spend less money getting the same essential functionality. One main PVR + two lite boxes with media sharing costs 2/3 price of three PVRs. |
