I'd cut his balls off and put them on a spike in my garden shed

Before you do that, would you try and reason with your own daugther first?

I would refuse permission, explain (nicely) why, and hope I had built up enough trust and affection for my daughter to listen to me.

Try advising a teenager NOT to do something,

At 16 they have to get your permission to marry but sometimes the more you try and stop it the more a 16 year old will push it. You can only hope your daughter trusts your judgment enough to listen to you. I would not give my permission for marriage but there is nothing you can do if they want a sexual relationship so by saying no you arent really achieving anything.

I'd talk at her at such length and in such detail and with such vigour that she'd either agree never to see him again or, if I overdid it, to enter a convent.

My daughter's approaching 12 and I have two younger sons and I'm currently perfecting the art of talking them into submission. 'Let's go to the bedroom for a chat', they now realise, means that they're going to have to listen to me for a LONG time. Usually it works, thus far.

A 50 year old - with money, or without ???.......I should imagine that is the deciding factor.

There are countless rich, ageing rock stars with young wives !!

I don't think Doug relies on Courtney to cook his dinner unless, she does it in the Kettle.....

It would depend on the man in question. If I thought he was going to be good to her and they loved each other then I'd be ok about it.

The kind of people my daughters dated when they were 16 is pretty different from the kind of people they have ended up with. In one case, a different gender. 16 really is pretty young to try and make a life decision.

yeah, if he had a few million in the bank, I'd allow him to keep his balls and probably end up his best mate

Its a very bizarre relationship, and him turning up with those balloons

I'm rarely judgemental, but I think its a bit much. 50 year old marrying at 16 year old ?!
I would find even a 25 year old with 16 yr old too much. Even though its a small gap, they are at completely different life stages.

There was a pic. recently (in Daily Mail I think) of Courtney when she was 16.

She was so so pretty (without implants).

Was she cosmetically all done over when he married her?

I hate to judge on the little we've seen; but does the relationship remind anyone else of the Speidi dynamic. Even the way he looks at her; her cosmetic enhancements, her deference. Oddly familiar.

You've also got to think that at her parents are probably younger than her husband lol.

Could you imagine your daughter marrying a guy who is older than you?

Courtneys mum is young enough to be her stepdaughter

I would hope by 16 I would have taught her to think for herself and do it wisely. I know in practise that can disappear at 16 with raging hormones but hope that enough common sense was at play for her to make a good decision for her. She is who would have to live with him so her choice IMO.

Would I worry is another question and the answer is yes. But I would worry at any age I think.

You could not give your permission and just see if she is of the same mind when 18. Plus encourage her to have fun and mix with other teens....

16 is very different to 12. You are meant to be stupid and hormonal and pushing for independence at 16.

I don't think you stop worrying at any age, I can vouch for that.

At 16 a person can be very mature......it isn't the age it's the person. A 25 yr old can be quite immature. So you just have to take each individual case on it's own merits.
